Name: Cambrians (often called Croakers by those that have encountered them, due to their deep, raspy voices).
Homeworld: Coheed (Destroyed nearly 700 years ago)
Appearance:
Male Cambrians are massive and powerful, often moving in lumbering motions before darting with unexpected speed. They stand at heights of over 6 and a half feet in general. They have rough and scaly skin that comes in many earthy hues, as well as brightly colored crests.
Females are significantly smaller than males, with higher fat concentration around the torso, hips, and thighs. Their features are flatter and less angular, and they lack bright colors in their crests.

Biology:
Cambrians are massive reptilian bipeds with four digits on their feet and, depending on mutation, three to five digits on their hands (though four is the standard). They are omnivorous, but prefer fresh meat. Extremely tall as a species, males are larger than females, and stand well over six feet tall, weighing over 1000 lbs. Even their softest tissues are twice as dense as a human being's. They are able to lift an average of six times their body weight, but significantly more with military training. They tend to walk very slowly, but can reach sprinting speeds upwards of 25 miles per hour in short bursts.
Physically, Cambrians are among the most hearty sentient beings in the galaxy. Having evolved in the harsh conditions of Coheed, the Cambrians are like walking tanks, tough, inside and out.
Their skin is composed of armored scales strong enough to deflect glancing blows from the likes of blaster-bolts and lightsabers. The older a Cambrian grows, the thicker his/her skin. By the time they have reached a few centuries they don't even flinch at direct blaster-fire. Repeated strikes from energy weapons can pierce their skin.
Cambrian muscles are power packed, designed for bursts of incredible strength and speed. Their backs contain a large muscle as well as fatty reserves that can be burned for energy, allowing the Cambrians to go for months at a time without food if necessary. They have strong limbs and a strong core, designed for pushing, pulling, crushing, and lifting in short bursts. Over sustained periods, however, they can only hold about twice their body weight. Cambrian jaws can crush durasteel.
Cambrian bone is virtually unbreakable in most conceivable combat situations, able to withstand speeder-crashes at full speed or high-explosive ordinances. The evolution of Cambrian bone as irreplaceable meant that it had to be nearly supernaturally tough in the harsh conditions of Coheed.
Cambrians have the added advantage of secondary and tertiary organs, as well as dual nervous systems. All Cambrian organs are much more 'powerful' than human organs, functioning with about five times the efficiency (a Cambrian heart beats strongly enough that only about 10-15 beats per minute are required). There is rarely a case where the back-up organs function alongside the primary one.
Cambrian senses are the sharp senses of a predator. Their senses of sight, touch, taste and smell are highly developed, at the expense of relatively poor hearing based on lower vibrations. However, Cambrians are not known for any spectacular sensory feats.
History:
The Planet Coheed was a harsh, tropical planet located at the edge of known space. A planet filled with extremes of weather and terrain, and inhabited by some of the most fearsome predators the galaxy has ever known, Coheed's one lasting legacy is the Cambrian.
Though they were not the largest or the strongest creatures on their native world, the Cambrians were the smartest and had a fast rate of reproduction.
Rising to a place of dominance similar to humans on most worlds, the Cambrians soon separated themselves into biological clans, with twelve rising to prominence, named after their great warlords at the time, those being:
Clan Asher
Clan Cambria
Clan Char
Clan Chigurgh
Clan Coheed
Clan Dran
Clan Gad
Clan Gara
Clan Keywo
Clan Sirrus
Clan Renwal
Clan Upro
In the beginning of history, the two most powerful clans were Clan Coheed and Clan Cambria. They waged brutal an physical war for a millennium, with neither side besting the other. They were finally forced to end their struggle when the other clans grew powerful enough to threaten them. In their honor, the people and the planet were named after their greatest warlords.
Clan struggles continued, with no Clan earning supremacy over the others for any significant amount of time. It was during this period of low-tech war that the Clans began to use those who could touch the force as weapons. These powerful beings, deemed Kraken, soon became the powerful Lords of War, with each tribe placing them in leadership positions.
Under the Kraken, the tribes began to even further dominate their surroundings, turning their entire planet, from the highest mountains, to the seas into a platform for their wars. As Cambrian technology developed, the planet degraded. Realizing this, and having never gained the power of interstellar travel, the Cambrians reached an uneasy truce.
They built cities, and held Clan-meets, finally erecting a planetary government under leaders from the various tribes in alternating terms. The truce held, but the slight skirmishes never stopped. War was deeply entrenched in Cambrian blood. The violence was tolerated, and smiled upon in the secret meetings of the clans. Headhunting came to prominence.
During what the Cambrians refer to as The Unnatural Peace, Clans Cambria and Gad began developing hyperdrives for interstellar travel. Though crude, they matched much of what the rest of the galaxy had invented long ago in basic design. The Gad warlord at the time, Annax III, began to dream of a Coheed ruled by Clan Gad, and made preparations for all-out war for the first time in nine centuries.
Spies from Clan Asher caught on to Annax III's plot and brought knowledge of it to the Clan-meet. War erupted almost immediately, with all of the gathered Warlords killing each other on the spot. Their Kraken took command of the tribes and continued the war. With the advances in technology, the war was swift and brutal, cracking the surface of Coheed fatally. The end of the world had come by Cambrian hands.
Many of the tribes continued their war, determined to fight it out until the end. A few, however were not so zealous. Clan Cambria took members of each tribe as volunteers and hostages, packing them onto experimental ships and shipping them offworld. Shortly after, Coheed exploded, destroying the legacy of the Cambrian species.
Those on the spaceship were numbered in the sparse thousands. A mixture of the Old warriors and many of the young, they were ill equipped to reproduce in the unfavorable conditions of the spaceships, as their eggs required constant warmth that was very difficult to provide in space. The ships ended up scattered, and the Cambrians settled wherever they could. A Cambrian is an extremely rare sight in the universe, with very few people even knowing what they are unless having encountered one directly.
Cultures: The Cambrians have twelve tribes that all share the same warlike culture, though there are slight differences. Throughout Cambrian culture there is a strong emphasis on personal and clan honor. Cambrian warriors collect trophies of their victories, and often make weapons from the bones of their foes.
A Cambrian will never back down from a challenge to single combat, and will fight to the death in nearly any encounter, almost to the point of blind bravado.
The most spirituality that can be found in Cambrian culture is the invoking of the strength of ancestors. Calling them by name, the Cambrians pay them homage in battle and ask for a victory. In all other things, Cambrians are almost frustratingly practical, seeming to have little or no capacity for morality.
Cambrians take as their first name the name of the Clan that they are born of. Fiercely loyal, Cambrians often adopt people into their personal 'Clan'.
Technology: Most Cambrian technology has been lost due to the destruction of their homeworld. However, what little technology they had was very primitive compared to the galactic standard. However, they do pass down their ceremonial armors to their sons.
Force Sensitive: All Cambrians are force sensitive, but only about one in 300,000 Cambrian births are able to tap into the power of the force. When these infants are discovered, they are taken under the wings of their Clan Lords and trained. They tend to have extreme amounts of raw power in the force.
