Bio:
Early Life
"I don't want to be drunk in public. I wanted to be drunk in a bar. They threw me out... arrest them!"
Bill was born on Corellia before it was obliterated. His childhood consisted of skipping school, working in his dads mechanic shop and riding his speeder bike. As a result he got poor grades in school, became an accomplished mechanic, and learned to love piloting things. No trade school would accept him so he was forced to stay home and work with his father, something he really hated doing.
He managed to save up enough money to leave Corellia by himself and ran away from home. He traveled to Alderaan where he joined up with the republic military. A few hours after he departed, Corellia was bombarded by the Polar Star with nuclear weapons. His family was hit by one of the first warheads to fall. Bill didn’t receive word of the attack until he arrived on Alderaan. Upset that his family was now nothing more than a few atomized particles floating in the nuclear wind of Corellia and that everything he’d ever known had been vaporized, Bill fell into a deep depression. He drowned his sorrows in alcohol, turning into an extreme alcoholic. In 4 months he was only fully sober for less than 24 hours. He lightened up a bit when his funds ran out but managed to stay drunk by mugging people on the street with a sharpened piece of scrap metal.
He spent more than a few nights locked up in a jail for being drunk and disorderly. At one point, when attempting to shoplift a cart full of alcohol from a corner store he was caught and arrested. He was charged and convicted of theft and spent 14 months in prison.
Military Service
“99% of all bureaucrats give the rest a bad name.”
The day he got out of prison, he signed up for the republic military to become a foot soldier. Right out of boot camp, his first unit was the 22nd battalion at Tupalove Air Force Base on Chandrila. He became his squads designated marksmen, as his range score was significantly higher than any of the other men in the unit, especially with pistols.
He began seeing a girl during this time as well, a civilian contractor on base who worked in the personnel office. They went on many dates together. For the first time in his life Bill really liked someone. He was awarded the good conduct medal for 3 years of service without any disciplinary actions made against him and was promoted to Specialist.
A few weeks later, the Republic reformed into the Empire and the new regime took over. Bill’s girlfriend was fired from her position, and later murdered by an unknown assailant. Bill learned a few days later that another member of his squad had been ordered to make the hit by the new command. The reasoning behind it being that she was a security risk because she knew information on Imperial troops and was no longer under their employ.
Bill vowed revenge silently to himself and waited. His squad was part of a mission against a rebel militia that sprang up on Chandrila. Bill’s squad infiltrated their compound in the dark of night and planted explosives in their barracks and communication center. Bill himself killed two rebels with his rifle and long range while covering his squad. As the mission continued, Bill advanced from his position to check the bodies of the men he killed. One of them carried a DL-44 Blaster Pistol, which he took and concealed.
As the mission continued, Bill was partnered with his girlfriends killer and sent to plant the explosives in the communications room. Bill used the time alone to shoot the man dead with the Rebel’s pistol, then silently alerted the Rebel watch stander on duty in the coms room about the impending attack. The watch stander quietly roused his supervisor and by the time Bill’s squad was clear of the compound, the Rebels had already begun evacuating their base quietly. The explosives went off the next morning as a prelude to a full ground assault. The Imperial troops arrived to find the base empty, the explosives doing nothing but some damage to the empty buildings they were placed in.
Convinced that there had been some information leak to the rebels, the base CO launched an investigation. Meanwhile, Bill was making a list of those to take his revenge on which included the Base CO and XO, the junior officer in charge of the personnel office that fired his girlfriend and the General who had issued the orders to their base that all security risks should be eliminated.
Bill managed to avoid being blamed for the failed attack and continued on with his squad doing missions against rebellious factions springing up all over the planet. He aided them where he could. Missing a target there, slipping messages there. Very minimal stuff so that he wouldn’t blow his cover.
The information leaks continued to be noticed by Imperial command on Chandrila and a full blown investigation of the base was ordered by the same General who had ordered the deaths of the civilian contractor population. The General himself was going to come to the base and conduct the investigation personally.
That’s when Bill struck. First was the personnel officer. Bill shot him in the back while he worked late in his office one night, then shot all the photo’s of the man’s family that were hanging in the office. The murder was discovered the next day by the Base Police and the general himself arrived to survey the crime scene.
With most of the base security following and protecting the General, it was easy for Bill to make an appointment to see the XO. He said he had some information on the intelligence leaks to the rebels and the XO saw him immediately, bringing the CO along with him. Bill told them that he found a transmitter on the base that was unauthorized. He offered to drive them to its location and they accepted. Bill drove them down to the air field, behind one of the hangers, and then shot them dead with the same DL-44 pistol. He fired several rounds into their faces, hands and identifying markers on their uniforms to make sure they would not be immediately recognizable by whoever discovered them. Then, using some tools from the hanger, he forced some detcord into both of their bodies through their shattered mouths. He capped each end of the detcord with a dollop of malleable plastic explosive and programmed to be triggered by a wireless detonator.
A few days later, during a search of the base for the missing CO and XO the bodies were discovered and taken to the Base’s morgue. The General went to the Morgue to investigate their deaths as part of his ongoing base investigation. Just before he entered the room however, Bill triggered the explosives, blowing up the morgue room and causing chaos on the base. The General, who had been stunned by being so close to the blast was easy pickings for Bill, who shot him dead with the DL-44 as well as his two aids. The security guards with the general gave chase but bill shot them dead on the run.
He stole a speeder bike from the motor pool and left the base while everyone tried to figure out what was going on. 8 hours later, he was identified as the man who killed the General via closed circuit security cameras. An alert was sent out and in hours Bill was on the Empire’s Chandrila detachment’s most wanted list.
Bill caught up with a Rebel cell called the Army of Light. He traded his speeder bike and all the operational information he had on the base and its operations in exchange for help in faking his own death.
Death and Resurrection
“Oh my god… I just shot Bill Murray”
The Army of Light supplied Bill with a ship and a substantial amount of explosives and some high class body armor. He lead the imperial police chasing him to an abandoned civilian hanger where he had parked the ship. The police force cornered him and “shot” him in the chest but not before Bill revealed that he had packed his ship with the high explosives and pushed the detonator.
The police evacuated the hanger which promptly exploded, killing Bill, destroying the ship and leaving no evidence behind. Unbeknownst to the police though, Bill’s hadn’t really been shot. The blaster bolt had struck his high class body armor under his clothing and while the police evacuated the hanger that was about to explode, Bill had snuck out the back and into a cellar he’d dug. The explosion would have vaporized everything within its radius so the Police didn’t expect to find a body.
The manhunt for Bill was ended and Bill himself changed names to Fred Chen for a while. He joined up with the Army of Light for a few months. His prior service in the imperial army and skill in mechanics quickly elevated him to the position of Tech Sergeant. He was assigned to a Cell on Cardia. They performed several strike and fades against Imperial Forces there like blowing up supply shipments, stealing government vehicles, sabotaging machinery. During this time, Bill learned how to fly space ships, namely the shuttle they used to go on missions. He was just as good at flying it than he was at driving his speeder bike back on Corellia and was the Cells second choice for pilot when they didn’t need a marksman.
When the Army of Light disappeared though, the cell was abandoned. Without support from the outside the cell quickly lost the initiative. Two members were captured and interrogated, quickly giving up the names of the other people in the cell. The Cell’s hideout was attacked by Imperial shock troops days later catching everyone by surprise. Bill managed to escape but all his friends in the Cell were shot on sight.
Bill, seeing this as another betrayal, went to the nearest Imperial Garrison and shot 6 random troopers dead in retaliation for his dead friends with the same DL-44 blaster pistol he acquired so long ago.
He learned that the members who had talked and revealed the Cells location had been executed and buried in a mass grave with a few dozen other suspected rebels. Bill stole a hover truck full of rock salt and dumped it over the mass grave, ensuring that nothing would ever grow there for years to come.
He left Cardia via passenger liner and retook his given name, Bill Murray Solo. He traveled to Kuat where he went back to drinking. He was wanted by the Imperials at every turn, had no friends and almost no funds. He turned to shoplifting again, stealing money by mugging strangers in the streets and buying alcohol to drown his problems with. He has absolutely no memory of the 6 weeks after he first landed on Kuat, being perpetually drunk the whole time.
Piracy
“Bad Form!!!”
The next thing he knew, he woke up on a ship. The Dance of Crimson. Somehow, while drunk he’d fallen in with some pirates and joined their crew. For months he worked with the pirates, stealing merchandise from anyone they could. Bill spent his free time in his quarters staring at himself in the mirror, drinking heavily and practicing his quick draw. Among the pirates he went by the nickname Billy Bullseye for his impressive draw speed and pinpoint accuracy.
As a pirate, Bill killed many people, most of them innocent. He learned how to man the helm on the Dance of Crimson which was a CR90 Corvette. He also worked as one of the ships mechanics, becoming very familiar with her engines.
His work with the pirates was nothing special for him. It was something to pass the time and the occasional credits to fund his drinking habit. One night as he was drunk and practicing his quick draw in front of his mirror the Pirate Captain, first mate and two other burly pirates entered his cabin. The Captain was the only one that knew his full name and when he searched for information he found that he had been a most wanted by the imperials some time ago. The Captain planned to turn Bill in to the Imperials for possible reward, thinking that the Police who had declared Bill dead would pay handsomely to make sure the fact that he was really alive a secret.
Bill of coarse didn’t really appreciate yet another betrayal. He drew his DL-44 and shot the captain in the face twice. The First Mate, stunned by the speed of the draw and the violence of the action was slow to react but the two body guards were. They lunged but Bill shot them both in the gut just as quickly as he’d shot the captain.
Bill then turned his gun on the first mate and shoot him in the knees and then the shoulders making sure he couldn’t move. Dragging the first mate along and using him as a hostage, Bill left the Dance of Crimson via escape pod. In the escape pod he killed the first mate with a final shot to the head so that the dying man didn’t use up any of the oxygen. The escape pod landed on Taanab and Bill climbed out himself, leaving the pod behind.
He spent another few months drinking himself to death before getting a job on Taanab as a mechanic working on shuttles and light freighters. He made some good money working there and decided that this time, he wouldn’t work for anyone. He’d be his own man, working for himself to carve out some semblance of a happy life for himself.
