BT- Model 98The BlasTech Model 98 Blaster Pistol is a new blaster developed by BlasTech industries. It's a survival pistol, that’s short range and low powered. It's available to both military and civilian buyers and is used mostly as a personal or home defense weapon. Power: The individual blasts of the weapon are relatively weak. Unable to penetrate most armors its only effective against soft targets. it's effective range is also limited to about 30 yards. past that the bolt looses cohesion and fizzles into nothing but hot air. The weapon has no stun setting. Magazine: It helps make up for it's lack of power and range by having a large magazine of 150 shots. It has a rechargeable power cell in the top of the handle and gas is loaded in via canister at the bottom of the handle. Accuracy: The weapon is accurate for a hand gun and has almost no kick because of it's low power. making precise shots with the weapon is simple and easy. It uses simple aiming sights on the top of the weapon to aim. Operation: The weapon is operated by first loading the gas canister and charging the power cell. The power cell is good for 1,500 shots while the gas canister only holds enough for 150. Once loaded, the user pulls the slide up and back which loads the first bit of gas into the Xciter. Subsequent shots are semi-automatically loaded into the chamber when the gun is fired. The recoil of the weapon pushes the slide back which loads the next shot of gas. Extras: The weapon is easily modifiable. Scopes, power enhancers, extended gas magazines can all be made to fit the Model 98 so that it can be adapted to most situations.

Question... Does any laser/blaster weapon in star wars have a kick? I don't know I haven't really noticed any definite kick in the movies. Maybe a very slight kick on the assault rifles, but like Jango's high powered blaster pistols didn't seem to have a kick.
Just curious mik, unless it's a slug thrower I'm not sure it'd have a kick anyways.

thats a good question. it goes back and forth depending on your source.
Han's DL-44 definitly had a kick in A New Hope. and they mention blasters kick in a few books here and there. but then other sources say they have no recoil.
I base my decision that they do have recoil on the fact that the turbolasers in A New Hope most definitly had recoil. and since a turbolaser is just a scaled up blaster, it stands to reason that a blaster would have a recoil.

Ah, the Luger. Great pistol, very comfortable to hold if anyone has ever had the chance to handle one. I'd buy one of these for just about all of my characters just to be able to write a Luger into their profiles.

Interesting.... If there was any kick I assumed it was because you were using a sort of 'toy' gun and since we are so used to seeing guns with kick just holding it straight out and firing it wouldn't look realistic on top of if you pull the trigger you'd probably pull the gun back slightly as if it had a slight kick. Either way I didn't think kick would be much of a problem on any of the guns I've seen.

Basing it off of i've never seen a blaster recoil so much on star wars that it was completely noticeable to me. I've never seen one fly from someone's hand from shooting it or blast someone onto their butt like my uncle. I've also never read anyone getting sore shoulder's from recoil against their shoulders, though admit-tingly I've only read some of the Republic Commando serise and not all of it, and the Jedi apprentice serise which I'm sure is based around more for kids since that's when i read them.

I've never seen any gun, ever fly from someone’s hand.
but i just gave you two very noticeable instances of recoil in the star wars universe. Han using his pistol, and the turbolasers on the death star.
Here are some more.
Episode 2, padme shooting at the Great Deku Tree's ship as it flys away and then again earlier in the battle at the arena.
Destroy Droids blaster arms noticeably recoil when firing.
Clone trooper rifles recoil slightly when firing.
Just about every weapon in every star wars game recoils.
Turbolasers aboard Invisible Hand recoiled noticeably.
The quad lasers on the Falcon recoil noticeably.
Super battle droids balster arm recoils when firing it's blasters.
Examples of both actors and CG utilizing recoil for blaster weapons. If Lucas really didn't want recoil on his blasters he'd edit it out in post by turning everyone guns and hands into CGI replacements.

Now that's what I wanted to see. I've seen guns fly from people's hands who weren't ready for the recoil, as a side note tho.

dropped is more like it.
The recoil on a hand gun isn't so powerful that it'll break someones grip. even a simple handshake grip is more than enough to hang onto a gun, in fact, thats the kind of grip you want to stay accurate. You want the gun loose and relaxed in your hand and to not fight the recoil with your grip. You're shots will be innacruate and you'll end up straining your wrist.
i can see how the recoil might surprise a first time gun user and cause them to drop it though. I can even see how firing a really powerful rifle might make someone fall over if they aren't standing right.

Star Wars guns would have recoil because they are not energy weapons. They fire plasma contained in a magnetic field. This means when fired the gun must propel the super heated gas out of the front of the gun, and as good old newton's third law states, for ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Now sense the gas has such a low mass (reasonable assumtion) but shot extremely high speeds it would be safe to assume it would be similar to a small caliber bullet.
Anyways, Approved.
