M41A1 Coil Rifle
History: Made by the Coruschal WeaponWorks, a company who specializes in slugthrowers, The M41A Coil Rifle is a state of the art assault rifle. The base M41 is made for short to medium range engagements, while, if equipped with a scope, and fine tuned to be used as such, it can be similarly used at long range. The m41 can fire in 1 round, 3 round bursts, or full automatic mode. At full burst, and with enough ammunition, The M41 can fire 900 rounds per minute, and is simple to reload. It is meant for military clientele.
Design: The M41A1 Coil Rifle is Coruschal WeaponWork’s first attempt at a propellantless slugthrower. The design is a classic coil rifle, using hundreds of electromagnets which are in the shape of rings stacked around the barrel of the rifle. Each magnet is in the shape of a ring which is mounted one after another forming the barrel of the weapon. These rings are then coated with an installation polymer which keeps the magnets from shorting one another out. When the trigger is pulled, all the magnets activate one after the other, pulling the projectile faster and faster until it exits the barrel of the weapon at which time the next round is launched. The entire action is controlled by internal computer. The weapon was design to be powered by a rechargeable diatium power cell which slides into the handle of the weapon and use forty caliber tungsten jacketed ferrite slugs just forward of the trigger.
Magazine: A small magazine can hold 50 rounds before needing discharging, and with an extended magazine hold fire upwards of 100 rounds. Each power cell has enough charge to fire the weapon 200 times. The weapon can also take in up to six 12 gage rocket propelled grenades, on the under-slung grenade launcher.
Operation: The M41 is simple for most to understand, and use. The operator merely slaps in a clip, and depending if they are in a hurry or not, can either start pulling the trigger, or merely pull back the bolt trigger, to cycle in the first round. Reloading is almost as easy, leaving the operator to pushing down the eject button on the lower left hand side of the gun, near the trigger, and the old magazine will fall out, enabling one to "slap" in another magazine. When the power cell gets low, the trigger grip vibrates and pushing a thumb release on the side well cause the clip to power cell to slide out and “slap” another one in just like the magazine. The LSD readout on the side of the weapon gives the current rounds which can be fired before the power cell runs dead.
Damage: The M41A1 Coil Rifle’s .40 caliber tungsten jacketed rounds are launched at a speed greater than any propellant base weapon could hope to reach. As such the high mass and velocity bullet can easily punch through medium grade armor and even light armor vehicles with easy. Soft targets are often simple shredded if one of the rounds hit. The weapon has a considerable kick because of the large caliber round and if fired in full automatic it can quickly become unwieldy to all but the most trained soldiers. The underslung grenade launcher has the explosive force of a regular frag grenade used by most militaries.
Range: The M41A1 can shoot a single round, accurately, up to 1200 meters, in 3 round burst, the range is brought down to roughly 700 meters, and in fully automatic, it is less than 500 meters, on account of the kick. The Underslung grenade launcher can fire up to 200 meters, depending on the arc fired.
