The incessant blare of the ship's proximity alarm rang inside Radik's head like church bells. Hauling himself out of his bunk, he let out a low groan and flexed his shoulders as he sat on the edge of the cot, rolling his head from side to side to work out the tension that had settled in his neck. The alarm shrieked again.
"Yes, yes.... I hear you." He grumbled, shuffling up from the bed. Radik took a moment to let himself acclimate, stretching his extremities as he drew in a deep yawn.
"Oh, good, you're awake." Kali's voice greeted him over the PA as the alarm slowly faded. "I hope I wasn't bothering you."
Radik grumbled at the remarks.
"We just arrived over Rattatak."
"Yeah, yeah. Be there in a sec." Radik managed wearily, drawing his hands down his tired face before pushing himself up from the cot with a groan.
Ambling his way from the bunks to the ship's cockpit, Radik shook out the last of his tension during the walk. He always hated long winded trips through hyperspace. They were boring. Not much to do but sleep.... and he had had his fill as of late.
Slumping into the pilot's seat, Radik rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and cleared his throat before glancing to the co-pilot seat and its occupant, the young Kunari firebrand named Kali.
"Sleep well?" She teased, a thin smile hidden behind her ornate facemask.
"Yeah, like a baby." Radik jabbed sarcastically, turning his attention back to the control console. "So, this is ground zero."
"Looks like it."
"I suppose that message we intercepted was the last piece of the puzzle?"
Kali nodded. "Yeah. After I decoded it, all the clues lead here."
Radik glanced to the ship's nav computer again as Kali tagged a waypoint on the planetary map. On closer inspection though, he noted the large storm complex that was showing up on the display as well.
"And I'm guessing that thing is a...."
"Big ass storm." Lexi said in a very matter-of-fact tone.
"And of course the waypoint is right smack dab in the middle of it."
"Nothing worth doing is ever easy, huh?"
Radik smiled a bit at the comment. "No, no it's not. Alright, let's plot a course for the surface and see what we can see."
"Way ahead of ya."
