Personal Items: Quar considers his droid body to be his own private property, despite it technically being owned by the Empire. Aside from his droid body, his only real possession is his lightsaber.
Personality: Quar is insatiably curious and has the patience of.. well.. a stone. While its primary field of study is robotics, droid brains and programming, Quar is interested in many other areas of study. Due to its non-organic nature, Quar does not sleep and so spends most of its “down time” working on side projects or reading. While it does not like to end life prematurely, it also does not hold the same reverence for organic life as some organics do, due to him being pretty much immortal. It also has trouble sometimes understanding organic relationships because it is genderless and has no appreciation for the need to find a mate or create progeny.
Starship:
Force Powers:
Telekinesis
Force Sense
Technopathy
Skills:
Droid/Computer Communication
Slicing/Programing/Computer design
Melee combat of various sorts including lightsaber use
Bio: Quar is a Shard from the planet Orax. Originally, it was part of a group that had detached I itself from the large crystal colonies on Orax and traveled out through the old republic to gain experience of the outside world. Quar’s main field of focus was on computer engineering and droid programing. It studied computer science and programing languages at a university on Coruscant then traveled to The Wheel to live and work. It took several jobs aboard the station before joining a local commercial freighter fleet.
When the Empire took over, it was serving on board a bulk freighter as a computer technician. The freighter was seized during an involuntary inspection at Fostar Haven. The inspections crew thought Quar was a droid and disconnected its power supply when the restraining bolt didn’t work.
It sat in storage, for a while before its droid body was slated to be scrapped. The scrappers found it inside the droid’s chest cavity and had no idea what it was so it was placed on a shelf for 5 years before being discovered by an Inquisitor who sensed Quar’s Force Sensitivity. The Inquisitor took Quar to an Imperial fleet where it was given a translation device which allowed it to communicate. Quar relayed its story, was subjected to some experiments and proved itself capable of taking care of the Imperial droids on board the ship.
The ship it ended up on was on was a Arquitens-class light cruiser which was placed into a R&D and became one of the test platforms for the Dark Trooper Program. Quar traded his services as a droid programmer for the project and in exchange, the cruisers captain allowed it to work on its own side projects and research.
Quar’s efforts were instrumental in the pattern recognition and targeting programs for the Phase I Dark Troopers but that version of the project was eventually mothballed in favor of the Phase II variant which scrapped the droid idea in favor of combat suits that were piloted by a flesh and blood stormtrooper. Quar worked on that project for a while but midway into the design phase it was approached by a dark robed figure who claimed to be a member of the Prophets of the Dark Side. This Prophet offered to Quar the opportunity to join an Imperial project called Remnant, which involved joining a small Imperial fleet going to the Unknown Regions. Quar agreed because it was curious about the Unknown Regions and life in the Empire outside his R&D ship.
Quar traveled with the Prophet to the Emperor’s Legacy, an Executor Class-Super Star Destroyer. Aboard the SSD, Quar was brought before the Brotherhood for training. It was put under the charge of the Emperor’s Hand and though there was somewhat of a barrier between the silicon based lifeform and it’s fleshy carbon based teachers, Quar’s natural curiosity and intelligence allowed it to eventually learn to harness The Force. Quar’s expertise and natural ability to interface with computer systems granted it the rare ability of technopathy through it’s use of the Force, being able to access wireless signals and systems using the Force, sense droids and other machines as well as feel the simple thought processes of most basic droids. It even learned to use the force to impose a dampening field on some droids similar to that of a restraining bolt. Very simple droids it learned to control outright, from a distance using only the Force.
During it’s down time from Force Studies, Quar worked on the Imperial Droids aboard ship and continued its research into droid brain programming. It was granted access to several DT-Series Sentry Droids as well as several KX-Series Security Droids to work on. Through Quar’s efforts, these droids were provided with enhanced programming allowing them to operate with more independence and with greater efficiency.
Quar joined the Paladin faction of the Brotherhood when his training was complete. Since it would need to integrate into, and operate with, the Imperial military as part of his Paladin duties, it used one of the droids given to him, a KX-Series Sentry droid. The modifications were simple enough as it had done it many times and in no time at all, it had itself a new, combat ready droid body. While not perfectly adapted for heavy warfare, its droid body is able enough to suit it in most training scenarios. It usually acts as a mobile droid control unit and coordinates with organic forces, however if we gets into physical combat himself it is more than capable of defending itself.
