They do. The final goodbye is always the most difficult to explain, and even more difficult to follow through with. Unfortunately though, I have come to that moment in my time here, that precipice where you have to go one way or the other. And I have chosen to go the other way.
So what reason do I offer all of you for my departure from the site? Simply put - RPing is no longer applicable to me. It has lost its luster, its intrigue and its entertainment value for me. No doubt some of you have heard my off handed musings in the past over AIM about how I would one day finally quit the BHOD. And perhaps those comments were seen for what they were at the time they were made - thoughts expressed in moments of stress and.... "enhanced" by my good friend Mr. Jack Daniels.
Even so, there was always a level of truth to them. No one can stick around on a site forever. Its not feasible. So, here we are. The point where I am actually making good on those one-off comments that I would one day leave.
So what is there to say now? Shall I say I had a great time here and really enjoyed getting to know everyone here? I would say that is a fair assessment of the time I have spent here. Of course, there has also been down time. Times where I seriously doubted what the continued value of participating in the site would be. Even so, I found something to come back to. Some inexplicable little thing about the site that kept drawing me back into it despite whatever issues I may have had with it at the time.
Let me make one thing perfectly clear though - my leaving the site has nothing to do with any complaints or problems I may have had during my time here. I leave here harboring no hard feelings or ill will towards anyone. So, of course it may go without saying, but since endings suck and they are hard to write, I would just like to say thank you to everyone. It has been a distinct pleasure to meet you, to come to this site and be considered a member of your community, to RP with you and share ideas.
It has been fun, frustrating, confusing and entertaining all in the same breath and it is something I will not soon forget. It's been a great ride guys and I wish all of you and the BHOD nothing but the best in the future.
And if any of you should feel the need to get in touch with me, I'll still be lurking around on AIM from time to time if you want to chat or complain - the door is always open.
