HISTORY
Chi’Vas’Nar is often considered a worthless rock in a worthless orbiting a worthless gas giant in a worthless star system. This being said its history is rather boring. The planet itself was discovered by the Anthony and Ellen Valentine, two Corellia prospectors how were looking for a claim. When they arrived in the Chi’Vas’Nar system they found that two gas giants closest to the sun, an asteroid belt farther out in the system. Each of the gas giants had several moons orbiting them, but most were small balls of rock or ice. The only promising moon was the one orbiting the farthest planet out, Chi’Vas’Nar as they came to call it when the submitted their hyperspace charts.
The largest moon orbiting the gas giant, Tyr’Nar, had vast quanities of elements Lommite and Zersium. These were two critical ores needed in the construction of durasteel. Little did the Valentine’s know, it was in fact that ten percent of the asteroids in the Chi’Vas’Nar asteroid belt held large quanities of the rare ore Meleenium, one of the rarest elements needed for durasteel production. Without this information they did not even bother to stack a claim on the system and continued to search for another system which could be mined at less expense then Tyr’Nar.
Roughly twenty years after the system was discovered by the Valentines, the navigation computer came up for auction. The Federation was looking for uninhabited systems to set up mining colonies and quickly purchased the navigation computer with all the previously uncharted worlds. The Federation Navy sent a scout ship to Tyr’Nar and did a much more detailed scan of the area. They found the valuable resources in the asteroid field and on Tyr’Nar. They quickly moved to set up a presence in the system.
Using the Ilium shipyards to construct a new space station and mining droids and auto-mining vessels were deployed to strip mine the system. Ilium built the station in large modular which are towed through hyperspace from Ilium to the stations site in orbit of Tyr’Nar. Here they were assembled.
As more of the automated mining ships returned to the station with high value Meleenium, the Federation Navy started to realize the importance of Chi’Vas’Nar system. The Federation quickly set up a military presence on the station in the system and set up defense within the system. They also restricted the hyperspace coordinates to a select group of Federation Navigation Droids and high ranking officers. In Wild Space and near the galactic edge, nearly directly out on the radial direction from the galactic core, through Mon Calamari and outward. It is so far out and nothing of interest in the system has gotten the station nicknamed Exile Station by anyone station there. The name stuck and the station is known as Exile Station by all Federation personnel.
UNIQUE FEATURES
Minus the large quantities of natural resources used in ship production located in the system, the only really unique part feature of the system is Exile Station.
Exile Station in orbit around Tyr’Nar
Exile Station itself is classic in the Ilium style of station construction and itself is modular by nature. This leads the station to look hectic and unconventional, but the many station add-ons make adaptable. To modify the station all that needs to be done is that a module is constructed with specially design docking ports, towed through hyperspace to Tyr’Nar, and docked with an open port. Once docked power and atmosphere are pumped through the docking ports and the module becomes a functional part of the station. Should a module become damage or unneeded; the docking port is sealed and it is simply jettisoned into Chi’Vas’Nar for disposal or into space to be recycled.
The stations modular nature makes boarding the station already difficult; sense most compartments can be seals and simply jettisons. However before this even happens, there are a number of defensive systems in place to protect the station. The first systems are built in ray shield generators and blast doors which isolate specific compartments and modules. The normal module poses no external weapons, the stations only defense is its powerful Shield Generator Modules and external armor plating which is design not only to protect the station for attacks, but also micrometeorite storms and the intense radiation in the Chi’Vas’Nar. Weapon platforms, such as a Golan Space Gun or even obsolete starships can be connected to give the station more firepower. Farther out are several large minefields which were laid and by require a code which changes on several week bases to be deactivated the mines. The final lines of defense are the ships and fighters that the Federation Navy always tries to station at the facility. These are normally pilots rotated off capital ship duty to station duty before moving on to planetary assignment in the rotations schedule. There are also normally Olympian-class escort ships along with other transport ships which move supplies to and from Exile Station. While these are the normal ships which operate in the area, large capital ships could be in the area for repairs, retrofitting, or other purposes which could lend support.
SPECIES
None the system is lifeless with the exception of humans and other species that reside on Exile Station.
TECHNOLOGY
Exile Station is the only source of technology can be associated with the Chi’Vas’Nar system. This being said, Chi’Vas’Nar system is a technologic powerhouse. Exile Station is serves as a Federation Naval Research Station along with repair yard and supply depot. Often the Federation Navy is researching different starship technologies to better outfit its ships to deal with possible external threats such as the Empire or Mandalorians. However the stations research division also has worked on other projects such as blaster technologies, medical advancements, and metallurgic processing methods.
