Early Life (Age 0 - 17)
“If you crash on my now Miranda, I will disassemble you piece by piece...”
Anastasia and Samantha were born in Coronet City on Corellia to Joshua and Maria Thrace. Josh served as a mechanic at the Jedi Enclave in the city while Maria was an officer in CorSec Smuggler Interdiction Division. The two girls were maternal twins and the Jedi order discovered that Samantha was extremely force-sensitive. Sam was taken by the Jedi Order while Ana, a mediocre force-sensitive at best, remained with her parents. Josh and Maria were so glad that they got to keep one of their daughters and treated Anastasia as a treasure.
As Ana grew up she idolized her mother, she would say when she grew up she would be a CorSec officer like her mother. One of the most important events in young Ana’s early years was when her parents took her Talus for a family reunion. Ana was only eight years old at the time; however she was mesmerized by the Coronet Spaceport and CEC shipyards. All the different ships gracefully flying gave her a sense what she wanted to do with her life. From that moment on, Ana vowed to be a pilot.
Ana’s parents encouraged her to follow her dreams and worked hard to try and make the dream a reality. Her parents signed her up for flight classes along with getting games and puzzles which were design to improve her hand eye coordination and spatial-temporal awareness. At the same time Ana was studying extremely hard to get good grades so that she could join CorSec. When Ana turned fourteen and her parents seen that she was still dedicated to her dream of becoming a pilot they got her a T-42 airspeeder. It was rather expensive, however they had been saving up to get her something special sense she was born.
Ana loved her airspeeder, naming it Miranda. In order to purchase parts to maintain and upgrades for Miranda she got a job at the Coronet Spaceport. She worked at one of the small shops as a clerk. She took the money she made to the Row to spend on her speeder. Ana loved to fly and work on her speeder, however other then preparing her for the day she could become a pilot on a spaceship it also allowed her to connect to her father. Often times Ana would take Miranda to the Jedi Enclave to get help from her father making a modification or repair. The often spend hours in the shop together working on the speeder.
Having the speeder did not hamper her studies however. She continued to excel in school, showing a great aptitude for math. This was a hard earned skill, she often spent many sleepless nights working on her advance calculus homework knowing that math scores were one of the first grades they looked at on a CorSec application.
The Academy (Age 17 - 19)
“I thought we were just sparing.” David Dorus
“And that is why you lost.” Anastasia Thrace
Ana graduated at the age of seventeen with two college level math classes finished and graduated as valedictorian. She then headed off to CorSec Academy to follow in her mother footsteps. Once in CorSec Academy she focused mainly on piloting however as with all officers she was trained in unarmed combat, blaster marksman, diplomatic skills, basic ship mechanics and computer science. In addition to the standard classes Ana on the side took up learning several new languages other then then Corellian, Selonian, Drallish and Basic she learned in grade school. She started by learning Huttese as most of the scum of the galaxy worked for the slugs. It took the majority of her first year at the Academy to train learn Huttese but she determined that she would learn a language a year in order to better work as an officer on a hub world like Corellia.
As she trained she impressed all her flight instructors with her natural abilities and her extremely fast reflexes. Several times it was as if she knew what to would happen just before it did. There was one point during her training that she and another instructor were patrolling a small portion of the asteroid field in order to test her ability navigate a dynamic flight path.
It was about twenty minutes into the training flight and they were about three quarters of the way through the asteroid field when Ana broke hard and headed deeper into the asteroid field. Just as she broke a spray of laser bolts flew right where she would have been. She then rolled her training craft and open fired with the two blasters mounted to the wing tips. The bolts slammed into an asteroid. The blaster bolts exploded on the surface and it was followed by a large secondary explosion which shattered the asteroid into thousand little pieces.
Anastasia smiled and rolled out of the asteroid. As she did she tried to contact her instructor. She got static on the standard channels and only until switched to the emergency distress channel did she hear the instructor. It turns out he was hit by the volley from the turret that had been placed in the asteroid field by a terrorist group. Where Anastasia's gut instinct to bank away saved her life, her instructor was not so lucky. She got on the long range communications and requested a recovery shuttle from the Academy.
Even with her innate ability to do just the right thing at the right time on a subconscious level, she had the predatory instincts of a fighter pilot. When flying against the other students she always was willing to push it to the limits. This natural pilot instinct made her a prime candidate for anti-piracy operation. By the end of the first year she was assigned to the anti-piracy division training program.
When Ana was assigned to the APD training program her training was intensified. Almost doubling in difficulty over the generalized first year of training that all CoreSec officers went through. Her specialized training including getting certified on all operations of CoreSec crafts including the Aurak-class Tactical Fighter, the AT-130E Dragoon, the Y-35 Cobra, and the Dynamic-class Lighter Freighter to name a few.
While she still preferred the pilots seat, the AT-130E Dragoon was an electronic warfare ship first. To be certified to operate the ship completed she had to take classes on operating electronic warfare equipment on board and electronic warfare in general. The training included things such as slicing networks, listening and jamming enemy communications, and defeating enemy electronic countermeasures. While she was a natural pilot, she was not a natural electron warfare officer (EWO). She had to work at it but about three fourths of the way through her second year she did get her EWO certification qualifying which allowed to operate any ship used by CoreSec.
The Day Corellia Stood Still (Age 19)
“Anyone can be brave in the heat of the moment, but true heroism came when one knew that doing the right thing would hurt, but did it anyway.”
Two weeks before Anastasia was to graduate an Imperial Fleet arrived and quarantined the planet of Corellia. Anastasia was in a Dragoon on a mission when this happen. She got orders from CoreSec Academy to relocate to CoreSec Outpost.
Anastasia followed orders and head to the stations. When she arrived she walked off the Dragoon and looked at a crowd surrounded a communication terminal. She ran over and pushed her way through. "What the in the name of the Sith is going on here?" She said as she ran in.
One of the CoreSec officers turned to her. "Corellia has been quarantined by the Empire due to some outbreak. We are waiting for a report from CoreSec headquarters about the situation on the planet." The officer said bluntly before turning back to the screen.
Ana did not have to wait long before reports started to come in. It turned out that CoreSec had assigned every person they had to the streets and they were running out of manpower. There was being attack by what they pretty much zombies. They were scream for help from the Imperial Fleet but there was not much the fleet could do. Ana along with the rest of the CoreSec cadets and officers on the outpost wanted to go back to Corellia but they knew that the Imperial Fleet would not allow it.
Ana returned to her Dragoon to sulk. She spent several hours there until she finally came to the conclusion that she was going to break the quaratine and help CoreSec defend the civilian shelters. She secretly refueled her AT-130E and then simple launched from the hanger without clearance.
Once she was clear she simple pointed herself into the direction of Corellia and switched off all power but the minimum amount of life support. As she powered down the Dragoon she launched a decoy drone which flew off towards Drall. Ana had several more hours to think about her choice and yet she did not waver.
Ana floated pass the Imperial fleet and dropped into the planets atmosphere. As she fell through the atmosphere she did not initially power up the repulsor engines of the AT-13oE. She let it fall and the durasteel plating to absorb as much heat as possible. It gave the effect that she was as she was pretending to be, a large asteroid falling to the planet. Then after the heat on the ventral position of the craft was reaching critical, she activate the craft shields and used the repulsor engines to slower her descent.
Ana landed near CoreSec headquarters at a distress signal location. When she lowered the ramp she found two officer with six civilians. All around were the Zombie creatures that was plaguing her home. She climbed out of her pilot seat and as she approached the hatch she could see that the blaster pistols being used by the two officers was hardly slowing the creatures down. She therefore pulled a high powered disruptor rifle out of the ships weapon locker before jumping out of the hatch and taking up position next to her Dragoon. She took aim on the creature getting closest to the group and fired. The bolt was at full charge and ripped the creature apart down to the molecular level. As the creature denigrated she yelled for everyone to get their asses on the ship.
The two officers and the civilians did not argue but ran to the Dragoon. Ana rushed them on as she fired the distruptor rifle until she discharged the entire energy cell. She then dropped the weapon as she jumped aboard the ship and locked the hatch. The creatures started to climb onto her craft and tried to tear their way in. It was clear that the planet was being overran and they had to leave.
Ana fired up the repulsor drive and took off with several of the creature latched on. She rolled the shuttle hard several time and dislodged the creatures just as turbolaser from the Imperial Fleet started to rain down on the planet.
She flew completely on instinct as she weaved the craft avoiding the turbolasers raining down. As she did she tried to gain altitude slowly, avoiding the green streaks that was destroying the crust of the planet. A trip which would have normally took a minute or two to clear the atmosphere took about ten minutes due to the amount of maneuvering she was forced to do. She ran up the ships hyperdrive and deactivating the ships safeties punched into hyperspace in a massive radiation burst which even the blindest of sensors operators would notice once she was clear of the planets atmosphere.
Ana's ship dropped out of hyperspace just outside the Corellia system in deep space. She turned to her passengers and insured the that she would get them back to Drall safely, however first she would need to insure that the Empire could not track them. She quickly plotted a second jump and jumped to hyperspace as the Imperial pursuit crafts exited. It was clear it would be a battle of who could calculate the jumps faster. If Ana was faster, they would eventually jump before the Imperial arrived leaving them no way to trace them, however if the Imperial pilots were faster they would slowly gain on them and destroy the craft.
It turned out that Ana was the faster. Every time she jumped she would gain around three to five seconds on the Imperials until her last jump put her clear. Once she was clear she plotted a jump and headed back to the Corellia system with her passengers. When she arrived she was shocked to see that the Imperial Fleet had just left after bombarding her homeworld. No relief effort or help rebuilding; just destruction. She slowly flew to CoreSec Outpost where she requested quarantine procedures until she could verify that her rescued civilians and officers were not infected.
After a few days of sitting in an empty hangerbay Ana and the others were given the all clear. Ana was marched straight to the CoreSec Deputy Director. He told her that it was an increasingly stupid thing she did, but also one of the most heroic things also. The director stood and open a box that contained a set of Bloodstrip Second Order. He presented them to her for her gallant effort to save uninfected civilians and CoreSec officers even under the threat of death by the Empire. He also told her if she ever tried anything like that again that he would be for to either remove her from CoreSec or promote her to holding down a desk, either way she would not like the outcome. Ana was dismissed and graduated with a few other CoreSec members that were on other planets when the bombardment occurred. With such large losses during the destruction of Corellia, CoreSec would need all the officers they could get.
CoreSec Officer (Age 19 - 26)
“Sometimes, you have to roll a hard six.”
With the destruction of Corellia, CoreSec relocated to Talus in order to continue to serve the surviving four brother. Ana herself planned to stay in CoreSec and would be assigned to the reduced Anti-Piracy Division. Ana and seven other CoreSec officers were all that CoreSec could afford to deal with pirates in the system. The APD had to figure out a way to deal with piracy in a system which was quickly becoming overwhelmed by scum after the destruction of the main planet of the system.
The APD broke the its eight members into two teams of four. Anastasia was assigned to lead Team Two with Orillina “Edge” Vnar, Erik “Red” O’Neill, Hayley “Jinx” Jade. The team few modified Y-35 Cobras which the concussion missile launcher removed and replaced an ion cannon to disable pirate ships. They also updated the avionics and installed military grade ECMs in order to give the crafts the advantage against the pirates.
The teams tactics were designed by Ana. They hired independant cargo captains to be the bait and would have the information of the cargo be leaked to shady characters. When the cargo transport left the system they would wait on at a CoreSec station using its computer to constantly update the hyperdrive information so they could preform a microjump through the systems to the cargo ship at any time. As soon as they lost contact with the cargo ship or got a distress call the team would execute a micro hyperspace jump and drop out of hyperspace near the cargo ship. They then would turn and engage the pirate ships in pairs. They used both the laser cannons and ion cannon to strip the shields of the pirates then switch just to ion cannons and disabled them. Once the pirate ships were disabled they would call up CoreSec transport to tow the disable ships to a CoreSec station were the crew would stand trial for piracy.
Most of the time the pirates did not attack the bait and Ana's team would just land at the station. However while Ana's team did take a proactive method for dealing with piracy in the Corellia system, they also were on call like the Team 1 in order to respond to piracy attacks. When a pirate grouped hit a convoy; a distress transmission was sent. CoreSec would then alert the APD which would scramble whichever team was on call and order the other team to assist if they were not busy with their own operation. The fighters would scramble from the hangers and jump information from uploaded by the station before launching they would jump to the convoy or cargo ship. Once in range they would engage the enemy. Often during these operations lethal force was authorized as the point was not to capture the pirates but drive them off to protect the ships under attack.
In one such engagement Ana was the only person available to assist. Her team had the day off and most of it was on Talus however she stayed on the station in order to catch up on some paperwork. Team 1 meanwhile was on the other side of the system dealing with another attack. Ana ran to her fighter and jumped into it. As she asked for clearance to launch and jump coordinates, the flight controller asked if she was mad. She told her that the convoy was under attack by eight Aurek-class Tactical Strikefighter and one Y-35 was no match for those odds. Ana told them give her clearance and jump coordinates of she would shot her way out of the hangerbay. The flight controller transmitted the information for the jump to her nav computer and told her good hunting.
Ana launched from the station and jumped directly to the convoy. When she arrived she could see one Class VI bulk freighter disabled and the other two under heavy fire. She flew towards the fighters at top speed and made a quick pass against them. She lowered the shields to one in the passed and more importantly drew the attention of them. This started the hardest dogfight of her life and made her a legend among the other CoreSec officers and the pirates alike. In her Y-35 Cobra she pushed her body to the limits pulling more g's in the turns then her inertial dampeners could even compinsate for. This allowed her to turn slightly inside of the the Aureks and get firing off a few shots from the ion cannon and the two laser cannons before she had to break hard to avoid another Aurek coming to attack her.
The enemy pilots were shocked, every time one would just be getting a firing solution on her she would do a wild maneuver that would break the lock. The eight ships weaved about the single Y-35 for almost ten minutes, not getting a good lock but a few lucky shots did lower her own shields. However her shots were hitting her target and each of the enemy fighters were slowly losing shield strength. Eventually the shield so one of the Aureks failed and when she got a lock her blaster and ion cannon tore into it causing it to explode. Ana when to maximum acceleration and flew right through the exploding craft and broke into a high g turn and engaged another fighter with low shields. As she fired her blasters stripped the shields of the fighter and the ion cannons ripped into it knocking out all its system. The fight carried on for another four minutes as she destroyed four other fighters and the remaining three ran with no shields. Ana did not pursue them as her own shields were almost completely gone and her fuel was low.
Ana collapsed in her cockpit and waited for the CoreSec shuttle which would tow the disabled pirate shuttle and disabled bulk freighter to arrive. When she got back to base the pirate of the disabled fighter asked to she her. Ana was not sure what to expect however she headed to the holding cell. When she arrived the pirate stood and walked over. "I just wise to shack the hand of the greatest fighter pilot I have ever seen." The pirate said to here. Ana looked at him for a second before nodding to the guard that lowed the force field. She extended her hand and the pirate grabbed it firmly. There was a moment of silence between them before he let go and simple walked back to his bunk and laid down. Ana though it was the strangest thing she had ever seen but simple turned around and walked away. She would later understand what he meant when several of the freighter crews brought her a bottle of Corellian whiskey and the video of the battle. She watched it and almost did not believe that it was her. It was like watching a ballet with all the fighters dancing around her Y-35.
After about a two year of serves in CoreSec the Federation arrived under the command of Admiral Johana Kay. The taskforce was carrying terraform equipment that would allow them to repair the damage to Corellia's surface. With the arrival of the Federation which soon became the Republic, Corellia System became a much more secure place. The military patrolled the systems regularly in order to guarantee the safety of the extremely expensive terraform equipment which was repairing the environments.
The APD started to work along with the Republic Navy to patrol the Corellian system. It greatly reduced the number of random pirate attack in the system and within the year, Ana's squadron was reassigned to Smuggler Interdiction as the pirates moved on to systems with less of a military presences.
Smuggler Interdiction was considerable less action then APD and a ton more legwork as Ana found out. Ana and her team would often spend the majority amount of their times simple flying around scanning cargo vessels that were heading to the planet. In addition they would spend a lot of there time in the cantina's simply listening. Anastasia having chose to learn so many languages gave her a distinct advantage as few smugglers use galactic basic to talk about their shady deals. She also started to pick up the Smuggler Chan language that some of the smugglers used to communicate to each other. She believe that it was because she had already learned so many languages that it made it easier to pick up other dialects.
Ana spent the five years in Smuggle Interdiction unit of CoreSec with her team. In her five years she interdicted three hundred and thirty nine smugglers trying run elicited materials though the Corellia system. Ana however missed the thrill of combat flying, the adrenaline she felt and the feeling of pushing herself to the limit to survive. Also CoreSec had been training so many new officers sense she graduated that it was getting back the majority of its strength and as such she her leaving would not adversely effect the organization as it would have prior.
Republic Navy (Age 26 - 29)
“I need some serious out-of-the-box thinking.” Admiral Alex Arclight
“Out-of-the-box is where I live.” Ana Thrace
Anastasia left CoreSec and joined the Republic Military. When she joined she already had tens of thousand of hours in a cockpit and she was ceritified to operate nearly every small craft that the Republic Starfighter Command operated along with having seven years of leading a team. As such she was placed in Officer Training after finishing Basic Training.
Ana hated going through Basic Training because she already went through something similar with CoreSec Academy. As such she spent the majority of the year of training simple doing what she wanted. The majority of her time was spent back at CoreSec headquarters with her old team. She still helped them out with missions and spent time with them as they had became her family. In a way this was true for all of them. They all had lost a majority of their family on Corellia when it was bombarded and the last seven years they found that they were closer then ever.
Once Ana graduated her training she was assigned to the RNS Destiny, the flagship of the Republic in a squadron of Y-35's. The assignment was not that great. The Destiny was primary assigned to the First Fleet which operated around Coruscant and the other coreworlds. As such she would not see as much action as she had hoped for. The only action she seen was a few skirmish with small pirate groups, but even these where no challenge as the Republic Forces simple overpowered them with superior numbers and equipment.
Ana however did impress her superiors during each of these engagement as she had the most kills of any fighter pilot and was always the first to complete her assignments. As such she was quickly promoted to first a flight leader of her squadron within the first six months aboard the Destiny. If this was not impressive enough, after an additional six months she was promoted to Squadron leader.
As a squadron leader Ana shined. She personally made it her mission to make her squadron the the best squadron on the Destiny. She started out by getting her pilots out of the simulators. She despised the simulators because they just were not the same as training in the cockpit. She scheduled daily training flights for her squadron where they would fly against each other in different scenarios. Sometime two flights would be ambushed by one flight or one flight would have to hunt down another flight. At the same time she personally flew one on one with each pilot, determining their strengths and weakness in order to pair them off the best.
In addition she rewarded her pilots out of her own pocket. After each successful mission the drinks were on her and each enemy kill would merit a special hit off the bottle of death. She also insured that they flew the very best fighters. Each of the Y-35's had the be best parts on them, wither they were standard military issue or if she had to make a few calls to her friends at CEC.
Within a year her squadron was the best trained squadron on the Destiny and was the most agressive in battle. Many on the Destiny liken the squadron it a pack of wolves. They would attack as an organized group, each member doing exactly what they did best in order to most effectively destroy the enemy with the lease amount of risk. In many ways it was as if Ana took the pilots of her squadron and molded them into mirrors of herself. They all felt invincible when they flew with her and each pilot would have followed to hell and back without question.
It was for this reason that by the end of her first tour of duty on the Destiny she was being considered for becoming the commander of the air group or CAG. However not everyone thought this would be the best assignment for her. Admiral Alex Arclight approached her about an assignment change. He wanted her to transfer to the Special Operations Command. He had not just reviewed her serves record with the Republic Military but also did a little digging into her past. He found her serves with CoreSec more than enough evidence that she would make nothing but a valuable member of a Special Operations team. Said she would consider his offer but was unsure if she was ready turn her back on her squadron. Admiral Arclight said liken the squadron as her child, she needed to let them go out on their own now that she had raised them into a killing machine. Ana said she would think about it, but she would get back to him after she got back from leave on Corellia.
Ana had been planning her trip back to Corellia for a while. She heard that the planet was already repaired and the population was rebuilding. She wanted to see it for herself and maybe even by some land to build a home on that she could return to when she was on leave. The trip also would give her time to meet up with her old team again. If she was going to join the RSO then she would like to put together a team that included them.
