Name: Lao 'Zuh
Species: Miraluka
Age: 42
Sex: Female
Height/Weight: 5' 11", 130 lbs
Appearance:
Mask of Redemption:
The Iron Mask which covers Lao 'Zuh's face does more than cover her horrid facial scars. The mask also acts as a method of holding the voice synthesizer and her respiratory apparatus, as her lower jaw and nose were removed during a saber-duel.
As a result her voice holds a metallic echo and her breathing has become noisy (like Darth Vader's).
Left hand is also mechanical.
Personality:
Lao is calm, sober and gentle person. She has gone through so much that her personality has become like that of a ghost. She often listens and acts later.
(more soon...)
Character Rank: Jedi Master/Philosopher
Special Skills:
Force Pacify:
Under her redemption trails under her Master, she learned how to become a healer and a doctor of the force. Her powers can channel the force into calming and healing auras. This force power comes in two types:
-Force Calm:
Lao can channel the force into a calm nebulous energy which swarms the opponent and pacifies the built up rage and hate inside them. Her own harmonious will is imposed on the opponent, in effect absorbing the opponents pain and sorrow herself. As a result of absorbing the pain she feels the opponents pains as well.
-Force Heal:
Lao can channel her force into a swirling force of energy around her hands. This causes her hands to glow. With this glow she can heal any wound or injury from saber cuts, blaster wounds to poison.
Lightsaber Forms:
Lao 'Zuh's saber style is one that works on her powerful Force Sense abilities. Being a Miraluka she sees through the force so her style is one of patience and subtle movements before a swift and final cut. (reminiscent of Battojutsu)

Bio:
Lao 'Zuh was born third daughter to a powerful political family which often spent its time on Coruscant. At of all her siblings she exhibited the greatest connection to the force. While her brother became a senator and her sister became a politician, Lao 'Zuh was sent at an early age to the Jedi Temple to be trained as a Jedi. The Young Lao 'Zuh was a brash, curious and dedicated individual. She hated to lose or disappoint her masters. So she would spent a lot of her time practices her saber-forms and reading in the Jedi library. Soon enough she became eligible to become a Padawan.
When she became a Padawan, under Master Feng Qi, she meet a fellow Jedi hopeful called Maya. Maya was almost the same young girl as Lao but even more so brash and impulsive. The two grew a liking for each other and became devoted friends. The two would often spar or test each other's force skills in and around Coruscant. Lao was the more skilled force user but, Maya was leagues ahead in saber-play. The two became great exemplar students of the Force. Often at times even being allowed to assist other masters as they taught to the younglings. Indeed the two began to develop romantic feelings for each other but, neither ever admitted to it openly.
Though they did not ever express their love they loved each other deeply none-the-less. Soon they both began facing their Jedi Trails on Typhon, the ancient home of the Jedi Order. Maya's Trail of Spirit left a deep impression upon her. Inside the caves of the ancient of the Jedi Order she faced an image of the dark-side and almost lost to its force. Though she succeeded the dark-side and its powers left an impression on her. Lao's Trail of the Spirit was even more powerful. She fought an image of her lover Maya but, this Maya was in the form of a Sith Lord. She could not attack her own love but, forced herself to kill the image. Lao 'Zhu vowed she would protect Maya from the dark-side for all eternity, even in death she would protect her spirit with her own.
At the time their trails finished and their indoctrination as Jedi Knights, the Sith Empire of Malum had reached their doorstep. Along with their master the two young Knights were thrown into the dark turmoil of the Malum Empire Wars.
The Empire of Malum and Cain came swiftly. It crushed the outer bastions of the Jedi and now Typhon and Coruscant were next. Lao and Maya were sent to the front-lines with the remainder of the Republic Forces and Jedi to halt their advance. Heavily out-numbered and low on supplies, the Jedi and their allies were taking heavy loses. Lao and Maya themselves fought bravely but every day saw more territory lost on the front-line planets. During one battle a terrible fate would fall on Lao and Maya. In the heat of the battle Lao and her master were separated from Maya. Surrounded and low on supplies Lao and her Master were forced to retreat. Maya was left to defend herself and vanished in the battle.
Lao went into a frenzy of rage. Her emotions exploded and she vowed to find Maya, to find her love. She killed anyone in sight. No one was spared, Sith warriors, troopers, the injured and the prisoners. This rage feed itself until she became almost on the edge of morbid darkness. Only her Master's calming nature quelled her rage and fear. But, it was not all gone. Hate calmed into deep sorrow and depression. She had lost the one person she only cared about. Lao and her Master fled to Corbenic to return to her training and meditate on the what happened. During one of her meditations she found a small beam of light that felt like Maya calling her. Lao prepared to follow this beacon but, her Master advised against it telling her Maya was beyond saving.
4 years had passed. But, this beacon led her back to where it all began the now conquered Typhon. There she found Maya but Maya had turned into the vision she had most feared ever since her Trial of the Spirit. Maya had fallen to the dark-side. Maya told Lao that she was imprisoned and submitted to all kind of torture but she never-the-less believed her one and only love Lao would return to save her. But, this hope died along with her allegiance to the Jedi. Lao was horrified she tried to reason with Maya, to try and find the Maya she once loved and knew. But, all was lost. As Lao refused to draw her saber on Maya, Maya drew hers on Lao.
Lao tried to defend herself and hesitated to attack Maya. But, Maya was always the better saber user. During the duel Maya removed Lao's lower jaw and scared the rest of her face. Lao fell over in a thunder of pain. Her mind and body froze with the dark shock that Maya had heavily injured her. She could not respond her love and her will were broken. Before Maya could finish off Lao, Maya's dark master appeared and decided that Lao could rather be bent towards their side. Lao unable to respond was captured and taken to the Sith Base on Coruscant. There her lower jaw was replaced with mechanical jaw with built in voice synthesizer. She was told to join or die. Lao decided she would join but secretly she decided she would do so only to free Maya of her darkness.
This plan was foolish and impulsive, but love does such things. Lao herself soon became trapped and enslaved by the Dark-Side. As she tried to learn more in order to find a way to defeat it she became darkness herself. Soon she had lost all track of the light and had become consumed by sorrow, fear, betrayal and hate- powerful emotions for founding a Dark path. The young Jedi Knight and over the years evolved into a Sith Warrior- and one of the Empire's most talented. The two would be sent on missions into the remnant conclaves of the Jedi. Their fall to the dark-side was complete and all in the name of love.
In their training under their dark master the two when they returned did not do so as Lao 'Zhu or Maya. But, as Darth Vissimus and Darth Kraiya. The two once pure knights had become twisted Lords of the Sith. They both would be sent on missions to penetrate republic resistances and crush Jedi hidden enclaves. However, during this time the light which still existed inside Lao cried out in pain and its pain echoed inside Lao's mind. But, listening to this pain would have to wait. Quietly in the background Maya's jealously was feeding her rage and she conspired to betray Lao. She cornered her and attacked her.
But, this time Lao would not have it. Twisted by the Sith she returned the attack with her own. The two Sith lords battled each other destroying anyone ally and enemy around them as their two forces collided. During the battle the two exchanged blows. Lao lost her left hand while she herself severed Maya's right forearm. But, besides this their battle continued. Until finally, Lao struck Maya and killed her. The hate and rage inside her then suddenly exploded into infinite grief and sorrow. The light inside realized what she had done and she cried in pain.
Her sorrowful howls could be heard inside the force for miles. It was as if the force itself was weeping. In her fit of sorrow and pain she took it upon herself to crush those who forced them to kill each other. She hunted down Maya's dark master and slew him afterwards she stole his ship and jumped into deep space. She didn't care where she went just wanted to leave this place. Her ship hyperspace-jumped towards a obscure part of the unknown regions. There on an unknown planet she created through the force a stone altar for Maya, where she was given the proper Jedi burial. (This altar stands to this day on that forgotten planet, for which the locals call "The Tomb of the Lost Love").
Afterwards Lao contemplated suicide. But, her will wouldn't let her. Lao was in the deepest pits of sorrow and regret, she did not know what to do next. She decided to linger in the unknown regions and begin her healing process. There in the abyss of the Unknown Regions she meditated and attempted to make sense of her feelings and experiences. There she fashioned an metal mask to cover her face . This mask would become a physical representation of her path of redemption. Finally with her inner-self organized she left the Unknown Regions and returned to Corbenic to face what she had done. There upon her landing she was imprisoned by the republic and put up for review by the Jedi Order.
During the review by the Jedi Order, Lao was re-united with her master. Her master was horrified by the sheer pain and sorrow that resided in that mask. She pleaded with the Order to help her in her redemption, the Order agreed. Under her master's stewardship once again Lao began to heal herself and her mind. She took an oath under her master that she would learn skills that allow her to channel the force in order to heal pain and calm rage. It is here she gained her formidable powers in Force Pacifying and Healing. After years of trails and re-trails the Order felt it appropriate to ask her to return to the Order as a Jedi Master. Lao's master rejoiced but Lao herself would not allow it. She felt it was not yet time.
Lao threw herself in self-proclaimed exile on Hoth. There with her new servant-droid (M.A 78 or Macy) she began to collect her experiences into a holo-treatise- A three part philosophical work on the Path of Redemption. She spent many years there only returning once for the burial of her Master. All the meantime her tale would be told by fellow Jedi Masters as a tale of sorrow and redemption. She became a fascination with young Padawans and Knights. Her story of loss of a loved one, fall to the dark-side and redemption struck a deep tone with the young Jedis. They would travel to Hoth and ask her to teach them but every time she would refuse. The Masters and Knights began to wonder if she would ever return.
To this day she writes and meditates in her self-built shrine of force meditation, until she feels it appropriate to return to the Order. (Unless some one of serious worth and potential comes to disturb her enough in order to return...)
