Name: Megas-Class Star Yacht
The Megas-Class Star Yacht is a ship designed by CEC for the wealthy crowd. It's a luxury ship in concept and form, catering specifically to wealthy businessmen. From advanced holographic displays in the cockpit to an entire room dedicated to long range holographic communications, the ship screams "I'm Important" at the top of it's lungs.
Length: 50 Meters
Width: 30 Meters
Height: 9 Meters
Crew: 2 Pilots, 1 Navigator, 1 Engineer, 4 service personnel
The Ships hull is made mostly of a strong but flexible titanium alloy that is highly resistant to heat caused by friction. It's sleek design and smooth hull make for fewer complications during planetary atmosphere entry.
In space, the ship utilizes navigation shields to protect it from space debris since the titanium alloy hull doesn't stand up to orbital impacts very well so the shield helps keep hull maintenance costs down. This navigation shield is nearly almost on. The only time it isn't active is when the ship is landed and shut down. It is a seperate system from the ships protective shields but it is strong enough to sustain several strikes from small arms without any penetration.
The inner hull is made mostly of Titanium and is braced against the outer hull by titanium, shock absorbing, pylons. The inner hull casing around the engines is actually lined with sound dampening units to quiet the sound of the engines through the hull to make the ride much quieter for the passengers.
The ship does not come equipped with any offensive weaponry but it does have a powerful shield generator which can project around the entire ship like a bubble. It uses this shield to fully protect the ships occupants and equipment while the ship tries to get away from whatever danger it might be in.
The simple form of a spherical bubble allows it to be stronger than a similar powered shield that has a complicated shape which contours to the hull. However the shield surface area is substantially larger and requires a lot more power. It is a short term shield only because the generator will drain power from the system rapidly, especially when under attack.
The Megas is equipped with an advanced array of sensors geared specifically to find atheistically pleasing view for the occupants. Nebulae, star clusters, gas clouds. All these things will be clearly outlined on the ships sensors and star charts. It lacks any form of tactical sensors but there's always room for improvement.
It has a hefty array of ground scanning sensors however. They're primary purpose is again for finding great views and landing zones available within range of those great views.
Exterior cameras can take still shots of just about anything around the ship for later playback in the lounge.
The ship uses the good old SRB42 sublight engine. A classic, easily modifiable engine used on board a lot of CEC ships. It has a duel bank of engines, with one strip right on top of the second strip making the ship very fast at sublight speeds.
It also has an overheating problem when pushed too fast for too long. A spoiler like device was designed into the hull over the engines to absorb some of that heat to try and radiate it out into space, but a coolant system is still the best way of managing heat levels. Unfortunately the cooling system can only be safely operated once the engines have been pulled back to sub standard levels or you risk a pressure breach in the coolant lines.
Her hyperdrive is built into the ships drive core. Unlike most hyperdrives which can be removed and replaced, this one is fully integrated into the ships engine systems for the best possible efficiency. The stock model hyperdrive is easily a class .75
It's backup hyperdrive is much more inefficient but is removable from the ship. The stock molded is standard at class 8.
It's interior is highly customizable during the construction stages. Buyers can list the features that they want and the ship will be built to suit them.
Atrium
When boarding the ship via it's boarding ramp, the first chamber you enter is the atrium. A relativly large circular room around which are the doors that lead to ever other room in the ship. it is usually the most decorated of the rooms on the ship with spaces and shelves for various trophies, pictures or corporate logos. There is even a display stand in the center of the room.
Cockpit
The cockpit is completely digital. Every instrument from speed to altitude is read out on digital displays that can be customized by the pilot for optimum performance. It also comes equipped with a highly advanced auto-pilot system that can be replaced with a ship board AI if you can afford one.
There are two side by side pilot chairs in front of a single arching control console. It uses a yolk for basic flight maneuvers and the center console between the seats has the throttle lever controls. The console is identical for both pilot seats so the pilot may sit on either the port or starboard side of the cockpit without having to worry about the right or left handed controls.
Communication Room
Their is a communications room that is separate from the com system in the cockpit. This room is hooked up to a dedicated hypercom and holonet array to allow passengers to communicate with the rest of the galaxy regardless of where they happen to be. The room is round, about 10 feet across and surrounded by holoprojectors to offer it's user a full holographic experience.
Medbay
Buyers have the option of having a medical room installed during construction. This medical bay comes equipped with a primary medical table, equipped with state of the art bio sensors. Next to the table are two recovery beds. The room comes fully stocked with first aid supplies as well as some emergency equipment.
Lounge
The ships lounge has a holoprojector hooked up to the holonet array so that occupants can watch TV or Movies. It has carpeting and a leather couch flanked by two lazy boy chairs. Along one wall is a wet bar and refridgerator for drinks.
Quarters
For quarters, there are two different kinds. The passenger quarters are for single occupants only. They are small but luxurious. Carpeting, nine inch mattresses, wooden bed frame, a separate head for each room. Passengers ride as comfortably as the small room will allow. There are four passenger rooms.
The ships crew sleep in one of two rooms, each of which has four racks and a head. Each rack can open up into a storage space for the crewmen.
Engineering
The Engineering room is small, about the size of three or four phone booths put together. The main things that can be worked on in there are the primary parts to the main hyperdrive, the backup hyperdrive and the fuel and power trees.
A crawl space in the aft of the engineering room leads to a maintenence tunnel which arcs port and starboard along the main sublight engines so work can be done on them. Most all other forms of engine or repair work must be done on the ground by lifting up hull pannels on the outside.
