Name: Colonel Thomas Nigel Hawkins
Class: Soldier
Age: 48
Sex: Male
Height/Weight: 6’2”
Species: Human
Title: Colonel
Appearance:
Tom Hawkins is tall and skinny when viewed in person. His face is dominated by a light brown mustache which he keeps perfectly trim. When in his regular or dress uniform, he wears a red beret adorned with his most prized medals and awards. This makes him easily identifiable to his men from a distance as most wear standard ball caps or combination covers.
His uniform is perfect and tailored to fit him. He irons it every evening before going to sleep to make sure it is pressed and wrinkle free every day.
In combat, he wears the stock model suit of Command Power Armor. His armor has his award ribbons painted on the chest plate, Corellian Bloodstripes painted on the legs and large Colonel rank insignias painted on his shoulders and the forehead of his helmet. Again, this is to make him easily identifiable to his men.
Regardless of uniform, he always has a polished ivory handled blaster pistol in clear view on his right hip and his Officer Sword on his left.
Personality:
Tom is a Solder before anything else. He is the type to memorize rules and regulations as well as enforce them strictly. He is critical of failure but quick to recognize and reward success in those under him. His high class Coruscant upbringing taught him to be something of a racist towards most non-humans but his time in the military has tempered his views. While he still feels that non-humans have a tendency to be inferior, he believes that if they have the drive, devotion and the discipline you have the right to have anything he does and he will respect you for it.
He is a firm believer in one God as well as reincarnation and views the Force as merely blessings bestowed upon men by this God. He has nothing against Jedi or Force users in general, but feels their place isn’t on the battlefield or in the military and that they should leave wars to soldiers.
Off the battlefield he is a glory hound, seeking out positions where combat is assured and making sure to find new cameras or reporters whenever he returns from a victory. While he is looking for personal fame and glory, he is always quick to give credit to his men, especially those who performed admirably, the dead, and the wounded. He has a strong tendency for training, putting his men through drills and promoting firing range practice as often as possible.
On the battlefield, his bravery most times overrides his brain. He rides in his command vehicle standing up in order to get a better view and likewise, give his men a better view of him. He has a tendency to lead from the front, traveling between groups of his men during combat to check up on them and issue important orders in person. He shows off these acts of bravery and personal sacrifice in hopes of inspiring his men to do the same.
Outside of the military world, he is a major proponent of the Republic Marines, encourages enlistment and will fight anyone who bad mouths his Marine Corps. He buys rounds of drinks for his men, is an avid reader of military history, collects copies of news reports and articles that mention him or his unit.

Bio: His father was a soldier in the Republic Regulars, and his Mother was the Captain of a starship in the Republic Navy. When it came time for him to pick a college, there was no question. He enlisted in the Marines and attended OCS straight out of high school.
He got into trouble often thanks to his mouth. Speaking out against teachers when he disagreed with their analysis, being belligerent to students who he felt shouldn’t be there, and spouting anti non-human ideals. Twice he got in trouble for being intoxicated on base but the MPs did their best to help out a fellow marine and covered up any serious infractions, leading to him only getting a slap on the wrist both times.
Despite graduating near the top of the class, he was disappointed that he wasn’t THEE top of the class and blamed his mistakes for what he perceived to be a failure of personal goals.
At his first unit, he tried a lot harder at being more respectful to his superiors when he disagreed with their decisions, although he still got in trouble every so often for speaking out of turn or using foul language during official military proceedings.
During his subsequent career, he promoted to Captain, got busted down for starting a bar fight after someone claimed the regulars could take the marines in an even fight. Two years later he promoted to captain again. He took part in a joint Corellian/Republic raid on a pirate outpost within the Corellian sector where he earned the Corellian Bloodstripes. His unit was awarded a Unit Commendation and he personally made a lot of friends in the Corellian Regulars, despite his obnoxious pro-marine rhetoric.
During his time in the Corellian sector he also won the Legion of Valor medal, a Bronze Star, and the Alderanian Honor Medallion, the two medals he wears proudly on his beret to this day.
Two years later he was a Major and nearly got busted down again for threatening a group of civilians with his pistol because he thought were trying to kidnap a young woman. After an investigation however it was judged to be a misunderstanding, there were no charges leveled against him but Marine command, who had already dealt with a lot of issues because of him, judged him to be something of a loose cannon with poor judgment and delegated him to desk duty on Coruscant.
A month later the war with the Mandalorians broke out. Desperate for combat he put in for transfer three times and was denied. In a rare moment of political brilliance, he talked to his parents and his friends in the Corellian Regulars. His parents, who were by this time retired, talked to their friends high up friends in the military, while the Corellian Regulars sent a letter to their senator requesting Tom be moved into a combat unit.
With the pressure from the top coming down, Tom only stayed at his desk job a year and was sent to the front lines. His unit was responsible for holding off against a Mandalorian raiding party with minimal casualties and mounting up directly afterward for a counter attack which decimated the Mandalorian unit and disabled their ship for the Republic to look at.
He promoted to Colonel and was put in charge of the 107th Marine Regiment aboard the Republic Cruiser Oberon. Not long after he took control, the Regiment began informally addressing themselves as the Hawks. Tom enforces regulations tightly, especially for uniform discrepancies and poor military bearing but he is quick to recognize excellence and initiative in his men and puts them in for awards as often as he feels he can get away with it. Combined, this means his men look good both in and out of uniform, act like soldiers should, and are rewarded with awards and recognition often.
