It had been awhile since he had seen Drake, Twist, Xander, Bella, Nicole or any of the others. The feeling of home sickness was starting to kick in, not in the physical sense but that where ever that crazy family was, that is where home was. Some of the last people on earth, and he missed them. Traveling the length west coast had brought him home. The forests of washington were changed and yet it was probably one of the few places that wasn't visibly changed until you got to the cities. The mountains... he wondered if anyone had holed up in them, it would almost be like the world hadn't ended he mused.
Tren pulled forward in his land rover through the streets of Tacoma hitting hilltop and making his way down the large hill towards the highway. A fell beast was resting on the side of the bridge overpass as he went on underneath. Luckily it didn't seem to want to mess with him today. Tren didn't know if he could call on Angelic power since he had burnt out in a fight against Kiba, though both of them had been effected in one manner or another he hadn't seen the bastard since. Didn't matter however, things like Kiba only showed up when something important was going down, and right now he was just following Ziken's directive.
He never had trusted Asmodues, but Ziken seemed to have some form of honor. He had claimed to know one of his ancestors way past, and he found it unlikely that demons had come to earth before. Besides he was a Gransol and with every person he killed he drew in their power, if that was true and he was that old he might be more powerful than Asmodues by now.
The highway as usual was litered with vechiles that probably hadn't moved since the event years ago, though most of the time there was enough path to squeeze by or use the oncoming traffic lane. He made it up into seattle, the signature space needle still stood but half of the top floor was ripped out. Some sort of large demon must have been looking for anyone that retreated to hide up there. Poor bastards, no were was safe in the beginning or at least that's what it had felt like.
Arriving in downtown seattle he stopped his car got out and took a look around as he looked at a meter. Shrugging he put some money into the meter just as an old habit. The place looked desert but he knew there were demons about. Shiro hadn't spoken to him that any were in the nearby area but Shiro had been quite. Angel's were supposed to interfere, but Shiro had decided to rebel against that order so in doing so he had become both savior and hunted. He was able to give Tren some of his angelic powers in return for a place to hide... inside his body.
"Looks like I hoof it from here," said Tren aloud opening the back of his land rover and grabbing two .45's holstering them, a rifle he wasn't quite able to identify. It looked like an AK-47 but not quite, and the last thing he pulled forth was a Ninjato slinging it over his back. A family heirloom he hadn't lost yet. Pulling a cross out from underneath his cloths he kissed it for good luck.
Nicole had given it to him before he had left, Drake had nearly clobbered him for leaving Nicole in shambles with his sudden departure but it was something he had to do. Wasn't sure what it was exactly but he had to. Something to do with the past, and Ziken wasn't saying much. Surprisingly however Drake had let him go without a fight, which to this day he still couldn't judge when Drake would start up a fight or just let you walk on by. Something about the guy was unpredictable. Some inner chaos.... maybe that's why Alaster was drawn to him.
The hills of seattle weren't forgiving on foot, crashed buildings blocked streets, nearly vertical climbs up hills hindered his progress but he didn't complain only kept moving forward. He'd spy low end demons here and there keeping his guns ready. He could remember back when he was working mines for the demons, they had been trying to unearth something on the east coast and he was one of the unforunate one's to get scooped up.
Most demon's were cruel, not smart. Only the ones on top were generally smart, becuase they had learned to live long enough to get smart. Avoiding them was simple, most had given up on actually finding any humans left and that was their downfall. Crossing an over pass bridge on foot he saw a man dressed in white ahead of him, demons spread down all around him.
"Well if he ain't a friend of demons he's alright in my book," muttered Tren pulling his two .45's from their holsters and letting them hang by his side as he walked up to the figure. "Hey! Don't you know it's dangerous out in the open like this?"
The man looked over to him, yes a man.... with long white hair and asian ancestry. He glanced back towards the horizon. The guy was giving him the creeps with his cursitory glance. Tren thought for a long moment letting the time pass in silence and as he was about speak the man turned to him again.
"I had thought my line died out, too many demons wandering and the blood diluted, down to nothing," said the man examining Tren. That's when he noticed the man was taller than him, and mentally he recoiled yet again, he felt he was the smallest human being on earth save for Nicole who he was barely an inch taller! Ignoring the revalation he took into account what the man had said.
"Your saying your what.... my great great grandfather or something?" asks Tren skeptically. Couldn't possibly be, he'd be maybe 1,000 years old or more! His cloths match the era, but... he has white hair. Only other person I've seen with white hair on the earth. Odd's aren't very high that we'd both survive this long...
At the man's silence he points both his guns at the man, sounding a lot more serious now. "Just who are you? Are you the one Ziken sent me to meet? Is that why he told me to return home?" asked Tren and it was the mysterious man's turn to be surprised.
"Ziken? He's still alive? I told him to watch over my kin, I had doubted a demon would honor such a thing," said the man his curiousity seemingly perked. "I am Tatsu, born long before your time of city, and before the appocalpse. This.... appocalpse is not of the world I was born into. There's a date that's coming closer as we speak and that was to be the end."
"Your not speaking sense! Speak plain or I swear I'll put a bullet through your dome," bellowed Tren putting his finger's closer to the triggers. He didn't like where this was going, and this guy didn't have any weapons on him except that sword. It meant he was packing heat, the magical kind.
"Hmmm. Yes Patience has never been a human virtue it seems not even my blood can solve that," said Tatsu as he began to walk towards Tren. "You see boy, you believe now in Demons and Angels but did the humans ever think to give a second thought to anything else? Myths and legends? I also have been forgotten by humans labeled a myth in time."
"Yeah? Well you'd think that wouldn't be a bad thing, whatever you are if your the last one wandering around it might be a little bit of pressure having the world interested in you no? Guess that's not a problem now though is it?" said Tren taking a few steps back to steady him.
"No it's not... Since you've come all this way I guess I'll show you where you come from..." said Tatsu as blue energy began to evaporate off him. Evaporate? Not quite the right word but Tren could think of no other way to describe it. Two pistols rang out, and the sound of a sword draw were almost simulanteous.
"Impossible you stopped those near point blank!" exclaimed Tren as he put away his pistols there weren't going to be of use against this guy. He instead drew his Ninjato taking a stance, sword facing Tatsu.
"Hmm... that old thing?" asked Tatsu tilting his head to the side.
"I'm not surprised you recognize it," said Tren smirking while inside his head he was thinking. Come on Shiro, a little back up here? Then he felt it, the temperature began to drop and ice began to form along his shoes and slowly up his body as armor. Dragon like wings fromed at his back and Tatsu laughed.
"Yes, someone of the lineage has grasped this power.... but your still so weak..." said Tatsu. "Did you ever once stop and think of why your power manifested from an angel as a Dragon? No, you didn't.... Not until now. The return of dragons is coming Tren, and your kind will just be in the way. You can't stand a fight between Demons and Dragons, and I will show you what kind of scale we are talking here!"
Tatsu came forward with his blade....
