Jack Roth stepped into the bar slowly, taking in the scene as he went. It was in one of the seedier sides of Coronet city. People generally didn’t come here if they could afford not to. It’s the kind of place some would go when they didn’t want to be found. That was why Jack was there. His source had said the person he was searching for would be here.
He pulled his badge out of his pants pocket and palmed it in his left hand while his right reached into his coast to wrap around the handle of his blaster pistol holstered under his left arm.
Unlike a lot of the more famous bounty hunters out on the outer rim that the news and the stories liked to glorify, Jack was legal. He was a licensed bail bondsman under Republic Law. Four years in criminal justice to get a degree. Two years to get his PI license, include an 8 month internship in a Coruscant Private Investigative office. After that another year working as low man on the totem pole at another bail bonds office and he finally was out on his own. Roth Bail Bonds was small but it was his.
He’d made a lot of contacts working as an intern and one of those contacts came through with a big tip. They’d seen one of the Republics most wanted in Coronet city working out of this particular bar. The informant had owed Jack a favor and passed on the information. Jack couldn’t afford to pass it up. A bust like this would but Roth Bail Bonds on the map so to speak.
He inched into the establishment and sat down at the bar. Like most bars like this, there was a full length mirror running the length of the bar. Using the mirror Jack eyed the other patrons. There weren’t many. He found his quarry in seconds. He was sitting at the end of the bar with a girl. He recognized her as well but she didn’t have a bounty.
Jack’s hand tightened around his pistol and he drew it. He made sure his badge went up first. It wasn’t a police shield, Jack didn’t rate that high but it did identify him as a private agent of the law. Next up was the barrel of his gun, pointed straight at the wanted man. This was jack’s first solo arrest. He was nervous and he had always had backup on things like this before. He’d worked out what he was going to say long before this moment.
“John Paul Jones! You are wanted for the murder of Jedi Master Jor Halcyon! I’m placing you under arrest!”
