Biography: Aleph had joined the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps after the Battle of Yavin when the Rebels and their criminal friends murdered 2 million patriots and heroes aboard the First Death Star. He’d been an orphan living in a orphanage on Naboo at the time and when he heard the news. He was only 17 so he got a waiver from the recruiter for his age and signed up.
His first unit was stationed on Tatooine where he acted mostly in a law enforcement roll, dealing with local problems, responding to reports of stolen droids and domestic disturbances and such. He was only stationed there for a year, but in that time he must have killed two dozen of those filthy Jawas and made over one hundred criminal arrests. There had also been that skirmish where he and other troopers from his regiment had been sent to attack a Tusken Raider camp. With AT-ST support the mission had been easy. The Sand People camp had no defenses that could withstand the laser cannons on the AT-ST so while the armor punched holes in the walls, the stormtroopers flooded in. By the end of the day they’d probably killed two hundred Sand People, including the women and children. Not that it mattered, they were only Sand People.
He was there for less than than a year before he transferred yet again to the mid rim where he was stationed on board the Victory II-Class Star Destroyer Corruptor which was on Rebel patrol. They would use the Corruptor’s superior speed to chase down Rebel ships after they had performed a hit and run attack. He was part of many boarding actions as well as ground engagements when they managed to track rebel ships back to their port.
He also acted in two ground engagements on the outer rim. The star destroyer had been sent to deal with settlements that had been rumored to harbor Rebels and had known rebel sympathizers among the population. Aleph and his unit purged both settlements of divisive and seditious influences, along with the rest of the populace to ensure they didn’t miss anyone who may have been a rebel.
He was sighted for superior competence and loyalty and was transferred for special training to be in the Special Commando Advanced Recon Troopers. He was a SCAR for a few months, excelled in his training and was actually deployed on Hoth among General Veers forces, although by the time his dropship landed the Rebels were already in retreat. He spent the next 18 hours chasing after Rebels who’d ejected or not made it to the transports in time. He hated the snow but executing rebels was fun.
The death of Lorth Needa, Captain of the Avenger for general incompetence and failure to capture the criminals aboard the Millenium Falcon had put a black mark on the name Needa throughout the Imperial Military. Lord Vader had ordered much of Lorth’s family to be executed. Fortunately Aleph was not related to the late captain, only shared a last name with him.
Due to his excellent performance in training and on Hoth, General Veers put his name on a very short list to be trained as an Imperial Guard. Again, he excelled through training, excited to be considered among the best of the best and looking forward to one day meeting the Emperor himself.
Unfortunately, he was not present at the Battle of Endor. He had just completed training and made privy to many secrets about the Emperor that he never dreamed off. His first posting was guarding one of the Emperors several decoy shuttles.
After both Darth Vader and the Emperor died the Empire began to fall apart. Aleph and his fellow guardsmen took their decoy shuttle and rejoined the main fleet escaping from Endor. There, they learned of the plan to dispatched a small fleet to the unknown regions with the mission of preserving the Empire and it’s ideals. Seeing this as a chance to fulfill his job as a Royal Guard, he immediately volunteered. If he could not protect the Emperor in when he was alive, he would protect the Emperors vision after his death.
The shuttle and his unit boarded the Batroid. Being one of the Emperors personal shuttles, it was an asset to have. Enhanced shields, weapons and a full medical facility on board would make it invaluable for their time in the Unknown Regions.
The fleet traveled into the unknown regions to hide at first. Alephs days were spent practicing and exercising. He flew his Interceptor as escort and patrol craft, as well as honing his fighter combat skill against the fleets other pilots in practice missions and simulators. He became a hand to hand combat instructor for some of the storm troopers.
They would make jaunts back into known space to check on the progress of the war. They were at the battle of Jakku but were ineffective at changing the battles outcome. They were joined by other ships fleeing the battle and once again traveled into the unknown regions. Seeing the Empires back truly broken, they stayed in the unknown regions for greater and greater lengths of time. They met up with Grand Admiral Thrawns expeditionary fleet at one point as well. They raided species indigenous to the unknown regions for supplies. Aleph flew several combat missions against Alien defenses as well as leading his trained storm troopers in purge campaigns on cities and settlements.
The time of hiding is now over though. The true empire has returned to known space and Aleph will be part of a great new campaign of expansion.
