Arin Tyndil sat bored at the console in front of her. Her bantha-hide boots made for practicality rather than fashion rested on the dashboard of a old Galleon Class Frigate. She breathed in slightly exaggerating a snore before her partner, a rather dashing looking Zabrak, smacked a holopad against her feet.
"How many times have I told you, that the co-pilot's controls are not your personal foot rest?" he asked with exasperation. Jikker Malaphin or 'Jik' as he liked to be called was a respectable pilot, and smuggler. OK maybe the respectable part was a lie, but he was always very particular about his instruments. Sighing, Arin took her feet off the controls and absently twirled her lekku.
"I'm just bored is all, do you really think they'll show up here of all places?" asked Arin gesturing out the front of the ship. A piece of the planet formally known as Alderaan, floated by almost as if to emphasis her point.
"Be patient, they'll be here. They'll want what we have trust me, and at this point they don't care where it comes from," said Jik. Arin stopped her absent fidgeting as something popped up on their sensors. Jik confirmed it was the buyer, and within moments they were in motion towards the meeting spot.
"We're really going to do business with the Imp Remnant?" said Arin still trying to process that fact. The Imperial ship soon came into view and they proceeded to the hanger.
"Relax Arin.... what could go wrong?" asked Jik as he grinned getting out of the cockpick. He left a brief kiss on her orange forehead as he went by.
"It's what won't go wrong that worries me," Arin said under her breath. She sighed once more standing up and holstered her blaster to the side of her hip. Hopefully they wouldn't need it, but the old Imp's had a habit of requiring a bit of backbone to deal with them. Thankfully she knew she could play the part of scoundrel.
A man in a dark imperial officer walked through hanger with a contingent of four stormtroopers decked out in what looked to be newly designed stormtrooper battlearmor.
"I suppose you two are the.... contacts?" he asked looking them both up and down for a moment in disgust, though she did note his eyes seemed to linger just a moment longer on her. She crossed her arms leaning against one of the ramp stabilizers. She decided to chew on some gum to calm her nerves a bit.
"Yes, I'm Jik and she's Arin. We're here to deliver the cargo of historic value for the preservation of the Empire's history of course," said Jik quickly, suddenly not as confident as he had been mere minutes ago.
"Yes.... well then show us what you have and we'll see if we find it satisfactory," said the Imperial officer not bothering to offer his own name.
"As you wish," said Jik motioning an arm off to the side for them to enter the ship. After leading the officer up, Arin followed after trailed by the stormtroopers from behind. She didn't like having people to her back, but she focused forward. They came to the cargo hold of the ship which had just managed to squeeze two fighter's back to back by modifying some of it's cargo hold.
Jik pulled off the cloth he had draped over the front star fighter revealing a TIE/D Defender, and his grin grew wide. No doubt he was already thinking about the money, typical. Arin decided to take a position off to the side of the ship's hull and watched as the Imperial officer walked up examining the starfighter.
"And you are sure both of them are in working condition?" asked the Imperial doubtfully. Jik's smile didn't seem to be infecting the Imperial despite his attempt to be charming.
"Of course, I tested to make sure myself," said Jik as he tapped a button on his holopad which had a preprogrammed signal just to start the flight console inside the ship. The Imperial officer went up touching one of the ship's three wings.
"Excellent," he said running his hand along the wing. "Give them the agree upon reward."
Jik turned to Arin his grin wide until he saw Arin's wide eyes, and why was she--- two blaster rifles pelted him in the side killing Jik almost instantly. Arin's draw was quick, two shots out into the stormtroopers that had taken aim at her. She landed hard on her side behind a console she had dived for. The hull was scorched red with the blaster fire that had been meant for her.
Arin's brain moved quickly to reorient herself to the new information. She was expendable and easily worth killing to obtain these ships, we'll she wasn't going to go down without a fight. It was crinkin Jik's plan to make a deal with Remnant sleemos, not hers. No way she was just going to--- blaster fire erupted above her sprinkling down sparks. Her hands covered her head for a moment and she spotted something. Jik's holopad had landed near her. Starspawned luck! She reached out grabbing it. Blaster fire quickly erupted again and died down as they were prepared to wait. 'Let's see how you like this,' thought Arin as she finally came to the menu option she wanted. In a flash the lights throughout the ship flashed off, bolts flashed as she charged in low, red light flashing just past her orange skin. In the darkness a two vibroknifes found a new home in two stormtrooper's bodies. One just up in through the armpit, and another through the neck.
Arin turned to start working her way through the darkness when a light suddenly flashed red in the darkness, and accompanied by the worst humming sound she had ever heard in her life....
