John Paul Jone's starfighter exited hyperspace over the planet of Arkania. They were dangerously close to Imperial space here so he wanted to keep as low a profile as possible.
He put himself on a pretty standard entry course and had Gizmo double check his numbers while he waited for his partner in crime on this mission to arrive.

As Mariella exited hyperspace she immediately rummaged around for the doggy-bag under her seat, bringing it to her mouth just in time to release the contents of her stomach into it, the exit taking her off guard. After a moment she regained her composure. She handed control of the ship over to the astromech droid and it followed John Paul towards the surface while Mariella rinsed her mouth with water from her canteen.

Gizmo whistled something at John but he didn't even need to look down at the text translation to figure out what the droid said. He fired up the com on his fighter and opened a channel to Mariella. "Mariella, this is John Paul. Were about to go through entry proceedures." He said. "I want to land us as close to Arca Jeth's Praxeum as possible."

"Acknowledged...er...confirmed. Whatever it is I'm supposed to say. I'm on your tail."
Mariella closed the communication channel, not wanting her vulnerability to come across to John Paul.
"You heard him, R5. Let's go. Keep it smooth please, I'm in a delicate condition right now."

John laughed slightly at her unfamiliarity with radio procedures. "Roger." He said and then cut the link. He pulled back on the throttle slowly and as they entered the planets atmosphere he kicked in the repulsorlifts.
After the inital shake of entry his fighter stabled out and he pushed his throttle back up and his fighter picked up speed. The Praxeum was only a few hundred miles west so it would take mere minutes to get there. "Gizmo, start scanning for a good landing zone would you."
The droid whistled and affirmative reply and John looked over the status of his fighter. All systems were in the green so it appeared that their work on the fighters paid off.

Entry into the atmosphere went smoothly, and Mariella was grateful for that. As they descended to the surface, the Knight made sure that everything was in order with her equipment. She clipped both her Lightsaber and her heavy blaster to her belt and pulled the survival pack from the on-board compartment before drawing her cloak in closer around her. Arkania was cold, and it would be difficult to survive if they were exposed for too long.

Gizmo came back with a good sensor sweep. The Praxeum has been abandoned but a lot of the surrounding area was wide open. Plenty of places to land.
The landing struts of his fighter sank a foot into the snow before coming to rest. He had landed in a field just a quarter mile from the praxeum.
Right away he could tell something was off. He sensed something coming from the Praxeum. It was a large dark presence. Not exactly evil, but cold and calculating. He had a feeling of danger as well. He lifted up the canopy on his fighter and stood up on his pilot's seat. "Gizmo, scan the Praxeum and tell me if you find anything strange."
The droid whistled happily and set about angling the fighters sensors to better scan the building in the distance. John looked up to watch Mariella's fighter land.

As Mariella's fighter approached she immediately forgot her feelings of sickness, as they were replaced by feelings of foreboding. This place simply did not feel right to her, and her senses told her that the disturbance was coming from the Praxeum. She gave John Paul a look of acknowledgement as she slid from her cockpit.
"Do you feel that John? It's very dark...tugging at me almost. I can't quite tell what it is."
Mariella closed her eyes, sinking deeper into the force. The slight bite of the cold drifted away as she brought herself into the moment and began to see everything more clearly. So strong was her sensory connection to the force, that her outward presence became more serene as she opened her eyes once more.

"Yeah, i feel it." John said as he climbed out of his cockpit. Gizmo whistled at him as he climbed down. His boots sank into the snow and he clutched his robe tightly around himself to protect from the cold. "Gizmo says that the Praxeum is emitting an extensive EM field. It's not as abandoned as I first thought."
He tapped the side of his fighter with the palm of his hand. "Stay here Gizmo. I'll call you on comlink if i need anything."
The droid whistled an affirmative and John trudged through the snow to join Mariella. "I'm glad there's at least one lightsaber between us."

"Let us hope that this endeavor does not come to that."
Settling her cloak once again, Mariella began moving in the direction of the Praxeum. Though the distance was not too great, it took quite some doing to traverse the craggy terrain of Arkania. After a short while the pair came over a ridge and the Praxeum came into sight. As Mariella had anticipated, they were nearly upon it before it had come into view.

John pulled the hood off his head as they approached the front door. He couldn't feel anything immediately on the other side of the front door so he pushed it open to let he and Mariella inside. He was surprised to find that the lights were on. He quickly closed the doors and then stretched himself out in the Force. He could sense something like a life form but it was different. It seemed to be bigger than a normal humanoid life form, yet it also felt like a few individual life forms. He didn't have the words to describe it.
"Something really strange is going on here." John said. "Lets find ourselves some artifacts and get the hell out of here."

Mariella, being of the mind that a lightsaber was a tool first and a weapon second, always wore her blade on the back of her belt on the left side, away from her saber hand. However, as the two drew nearer to the presense in the Praxeum, she pushed back the edge of her cloak, gripping the saber and unclipping the belt loop. With a deft toss and catch, she transferred the blade to her right hand, keeping it close but not active.
"I agree...we should be quick about this."

John inched forward and opened the door to the next room. It was a round room that was lit by wall mounted light fixtures. In the middle of it stood a rather large man who was at least seven feet tall if not taller and was very well built muscularly. The left side of his face was dominated by a large prosthetic eye and his right arm has been replaced at the shoulder by a 4 fingered cargo load lifter droid arm.
Whoever the man was he appeared to be dormant. His biological eye was staring strait forward at the wall, unblinkingly while his prosthetic eye seemed to be scanning back and forth. When the prosthetic eye locked onto him it froze and stared at him.
A moment passed and then the large man sprang to life. His shoulders and back straitened out and he turned towards John, stepping forward in large, bounding strides.

In an instant, Mariella stepped slightly between the large man and John Paul, sensing his hostility through the force. She first tried to defuse the situation.
"Hello there...we come in peace..."
However, the man then began to advance on them. With a familiar snap and a hissing sound, Mariella's viridian blade flashed to life. Stepping back so as to more adequately defend her lightsaber-less companion, the Knight held her blade diagonally in front of her, angled towards her right shoulder and at arm's length.

It was clear that this large man was alert but John still couldn't feel him directly in the Force. He could sense the life form he had sensed earlier was now alerted to their presence and was moving to eliminate them.
John closed his eyes and stepped back, letting Mariella handle this one physically. He channeled the Force down through his body and into his legs and he crouched down low in case he needed to jump away quickly.
The cyborg, took the final step forward and swung its droid arm overhead, bringing it down on Mariella with mechanical strength.
