It only took a little under thirty seconds, a sudden flash followed by a shudder from the shock wave which could be felt by all the onlookers gathered round the Jedi Temple. Then, the spires around the ziggaraut began to crumble. The structure that still stood after the bombardment from space came crashing down in a cloud of dust. Once it had settled, the mountain which the Jedi Temple was built on was all that was left along with piles of rubble. The Imperial guards kept the crowds away even after the blast. If there was anything that survived the blast and subsequent collapse, be it living or artifact, the Imperial search teams would find them.
Ryuu watched the demolition the landing pad where his shuttle waited. A cold, yet sad look was painted across the young emperor's face. A part of him had crumbled with that temple, whether his current expression signaled his mourning of it or was just a result of his utter detachment was anyone's guess. Cain was gone, but the black cloud that had suffocated Coruscant lingered still. This was not a cloud created through dark side energy, it was a cloud of dust and debris kicked up by the demolition of the Jedi Temple. Ryuu gazed up at the blackened, overcast skies. I bring down all that he stood for and still there is darkness... Ryuu thought to himself.
Raiku, meanwhile, had cleared the temple after setting the final charge. What was left of Alpha Team had been ordered to take Gustoph and Arianna to the Tempest in orbit. However, fearing that Ryuu would sense them onboard, Raiku had the prisoners placed on a military transport carrying supplies bound for Corulag, the site of the new Imperial Academy. Only after she was certain the prisoners were off world and away from Ryuu's reach did Raiku return to the shuttle where the Emperor waited.
"Why are you late?" Ryuu asked simply. His head was craned upward and he seemed to be staring absently at the sky.
"Had a few loose ends to tie up..." Raiku commented, quickly changing the subject, "what happened to your team?"
"They didn't make it." Ryuu responded, the inflection of his voice betraying not even a hint of sorrow for a fallen comrade. Raiku was stung a bit by the coldness of his tone, though it wasn't because she hadn't expected it. Ryuu had changed after Corulag... was it something Cain had done to him? Matters of the Force were still largely a mystery to Raiku, though in spending time around Ryuu she had begun to get an idea of what it could do. Was it capable of changing someone's personality? Certainly.
"Stay here," Ryuu's order jerked Raiku from her train of thought. Ryuu was stepping onto the shuttle alone, leaving Raiku, Kyrite and Bulgender on Coruscant.
"Wait! Where are you going!?" Raiku called back. Ryuu gave no answer, the shuttle's ramp closed and it lifted off into space, "That prick..." Raiku said, voicing her inner thoughts quite loud and clear. Pausing a moment she turned to look back at the Umbarian and Taung that stood behind her, "Well Larry, Curly, I don't know about you two, but I'm not just going to sit back and watch him turn himself into the very thing we've been hunting. I'm not sure how you guys feel about all this Sith religious bullshit, but I'm not about to let it destroy my friend. You two can help me... or get out of the way."
